Update from NYC area (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by melidew
My manager is telling me that 50% of the stores in NYC are being closed. My store is one of the ones staying open. One of our sister stores is going to be sharing our hours. So we’re worried that we’re about to have like 50 baristas with only 3 hours a week and 5 customers a day.

Can I ask what all other stores are doing? For stores that closed, are you being paid? Please keep me updated!!

This is such a failure in leadership. Regardless of how this all turns out I’ll be leaving Starbucks as soon as I’m financially able

My store got closed. They're just sending me and the other partners from my store to another a few blocks down that's still open... I honestly don't get it. We were literally getting no business. I can't imagine the other store is either.

That’s exactly the situation! We haven’t made $2k in the last two days and in one day had a total of 100 or so customers from open to close. And those numbers are dwindling every day as companies close.

50%?? That’s so crazy... I’m in Jersey City and for now we’re opened, but so worried we’re going to close.

My store closed down and we aren’t getting paid and I’ve only been able to get 3 shifts from another store and haven’t really heard any updates or information at all these past couple days.

I don’t understand why Starbucks can’t afford to close down and pay us when there are companies who are paying their employees! PINK and ULTA being two examples on the top of my head.
