For every barista infected I estimate at least a dozen guests would be infected each day they work.

This is the "plan" that our leaders have us carrying out. I only report to work out of loyalty to my team my store and my guests. I would not trust replacement manager or baristas to keep people safe. I only leave the house for work, prepared in advance, and should be safe. Instead, I must "go down with the ship" because neither the politicians nor the big bosses have the morals, wisdom, or guts to make an adult decision.

I'm angry starbucks is still open. Half the stores in our district are closed. Our SM gave us the choice to not come in if we feel unsafe but so many of my coworkers are still choosing to work (even after talking about how it should close!) and there are SO MANY in our district who are jobless now so it's really rough to get all of them to choose this path :(

I’m really happy I work for Starbucks while all of this is going on. I know people who have lost their jobs because their companies couldn’t afford to pay their salaries while they were shut down. Meanwhile Starbucks is offering an extra two weeks of pay. I think we have it pretty good

I agree. Its tragic but id rather die of covid in my house than homeless. Im sad i cant see my parents tho :/ considering its possible ive been exposed by now

How are they offering you two weeks pay? Until all Starbucks close in my state, we have to work at other stores otherwise we won't get paid
Megaladon5267 points3y ago
But if/when Starbucks closes, you will still receive pay. That’s better than other places are offering. Not to mention if you are infected they will pay you for your full recovery. The ceo of Whole Foods suggested other employees donate vacation time to other employees. All I’m saying is at least Starbucks is supporting us. Yes they are trying to make the most money possible but because Starbucks is doing this, thousands of employees will get to keep their jobs. I’m looking at the big picture.

I haven’t heard anything about the two extra weeks? Has this been confirmed and how to do I get this? My roommates have an infant and I’ve been heavily considering not going in anymore
Megaladon5262 points3y ago
You can call partner recourses. There was an update about catastrophe pay.
izziedays1 points3y ago
Do you know if it’s only if your store closes/you get sick or if it’s also for precaution?
Megaladon5262 points3y ago
There is a flow chart that my sm showed me the other day. I’m pretty sure it said if you live with someone who is high risk you qualify. You can call and ask. They are usually pretty helpful. There was some stuff I was reading on this page that some people had to call twice because it seemed like there was a miscommunication on their part. But you should qualify

Someone freaked out because I wouldn’t let them use my marker to write on their own cup, which I never do anyway because it’s not sanitary in general but this dude had the nerve to flip shit and act like he had no idea we’re in a state of national emergency because of a virus. People like him are serious enablers for this kind of shit.
