After two calls to the Partner Contact Center I am going to receive catastrophe pay! (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by PhillyBaristaJustice
I called PCC this morning and talked to a guy who sounded like he didn't give a shit when I stated that I don't feel safe working anymore due to the pandemic. He told me that I had to talk to my manager and then use sick and vacation time to be paid anything. When I called my manager and said that I wanted to take 2 weeks off she offered to talk to someone higher up about the catastrophe pay and then told me to call PCC again. My second call, the person told me that they have recently updated information about catastrophe pay. **Since I don't feel safe to go to work I will get 14 days of catastrophe pay. After that period, if I still don't feel safe returning to work I will have to use my sick and vacation time.**

This is comforting to hear! Thank you for sharing

You're welcome! I really hope that they apply this to everyone that calls. I know that there have been contradictory accounts about some getting it and not others.

I just saw another person post so looks like it may be the case for everybody. I’m calling tomorrow

Call your SM tomorrow to check in about it. Keep on them because none of us should be forced to work in this unsafe environment. Starbucks is not an essential business and needs to close. Please tell your coworkers to call PCC as well if they don't feel safe. And don't choose the call back option, stay on hold because it seems to take less time.

Just called them (the wait was less than 20 minutes).

Was told that the SM has to be the one to approve the catastrophe pay. Woohoo(not).

My SM has been bugging me left and right to ‘feel sympathy’ or feel empathy... whatever, to the other stores and ‘give them support’.

For what it’s worth our SM has offered only 5 barista shifts to almost 25+ baristas, of which only 2 would have fit my availability even if they weren’t snatched up the second they were posted.

(Edit: forgot the extra info that I’m a mallbux so we closed Monday)
