Would anyone be able to explain the disaster pay thing please? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ThrowawayTheOmlet
My SM called me yesterday to kindly inform me that we’d be switching to drive thru only now, but she also just so happened to leave out the fact that we can make the choice to stay home with disaster pay (it was in the email I got last night from corporate). Can I do this? How would I go about doing this? Can she fire me if I do it? I’ve got both elderly and young in my house and I don’t think we should be open *at all*, but and I’ve heard if enough of us call out the store will get shut down. Has anyone done this yet and how could I go about doing it?

EVERYONE is getting catastrophe pay for 30 days now whether we work or not. If you work more than your average hours you'll get that but if you don't work you'll get your average hours

Inform your manager that you'll be taking 30 fays catastrophe pay. Then contact partner resources and take a leave of absence so your position will be protected

From what I’m hearing, a lot of Store Managers have the same amount of info as we do...meaning they won’t be able to really answer your questions yet. Apparently corporate is now realizing they jumped the gun too quickly on that announcement before having answers soooo now we all have to wait. This info is so new my DM doesn’t have answers either yet. We’re all on the same confusing page.

You have to tell your SM that you don't feel safe coming to work and that you're going to stay home for the 30 days.
