Do you think managers will get in trouble.. (self.starbucksbaristas)

If they are forced to close their store because too many partners take cat pay? Mine is an outstanding person, and I know the whole team will be devastated if they get transfers or fired after this whole thing is over. All this uncertainty is killing me rn..

I don’t think so. Corporate is offering the cat pay and you should make your decision based on yourself only. Obviously it’s hard to feel like you’re letting down the team but, if enough people take the cat pay they’ll have to stay closed which is what is best for everyone right now.

Yeah, we basically all opted for the cat pay without realizing that's what was happening. Many of us have sick family, grandparents, etc that we live with, so we made the choice for ourselves. Then, we asked who did what and were shocked we all took the same route. I think we are heading for a store closure. So bittersweet. I hope we are in a position to open back up and work in a month, because I'm going to miss everyone.

I don't like that this is phrased in a way so that we can each make our own individual decision. The reality is that social distancing works when we all do it, this isn't and shouldn't be an individual decision.

Yes, the individualistic wording I think is why so many of us feel guilty too.

The ethics and compliance handbook says very clearly in large bold font that retaliation is not acceptable. I hope they don't do that. On top of that anyone who is fired has an easy way out, go on a media blitz to say they were fired for encouraging their partners to stay home and be safe. That's a nightmare PR scenario that starbucks should want to avoid.

my SM told me this morning that one district by us had 9 managers tell the dm their not coming in for the next how many weeks. my store is closed cause all but 3 partners decided to take 2 weeks to the full 30 days of cat pay. my SM was telling me that shes just floating around the district helping stores till we reopen. but even shes thinking about taking a week off. i dont think any manager well get in trouble since corporate offered this up to everyone. DMs might be alittle pissed off though lol but they cant do anything about it.

Maybe the DMs can fill in some of those spots 😬
