Policy on talking to media(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by babyybeean
I was curious to hear more opinions. A reporter approached me on social media on my experience with starbs’ policies during these covid19 times. I answered a few of the reporter’s questions about the measures being taken and when we were notified plus my feelingsa about the situation overall , and none of those reflect anything negative about the company. Was this a good idea or should I have thought this through more?

Do it off the record to make sure you won't get in trouble.

As far as I'm aware there is no policy against talking to the media.

There is, it's the media policy and if your name is plastered on a viral article you can and will be fired

Dont use your name

Technically, the media policy is to direct them to Starbucks corp/PR.

Official policy is in the partner guide, which basically says to send the media to either your manager, or to PR. But I'd have a hard time seeing them fire you over that, the PR nightmare of firing someone for speaking about this would just bring more attention to the whole situation which is exactly what corporate doesn't want.
