soooo. i told my boss that i would work. not matter what. and that is still my mindset. i don’t want to walk out until the store is closed, because tbh it’s not about the money for me rn. it’s trying to help my friends and people i see as family. this whole situation has got me so anxious that i don’t want to leave my house. tonight i found out three shifts are leaving, and that indiana is going into a lockdown. i don’t want to feel that guilt, but i just can’t risk it. my physical health has never been the best, and this thing could be REALLY BAD if i do come into contact with this virus. my heart is honestly torn rn, and i’m just so overwhelmed with thoughts about this whole thing..

Your health is at stake. You come in contact with hundreds of customers everyday, you may have already come in contact with a person with it. Please take care of yourself.

i think i just need to take some time to myself tomorrow. lay in bed, and just think about the pros and cons and weigh them, but i think i’ve made a choice

It’s okay if you decide to work.
It’s ok if you decide not to work. No one is going to hold it against you and if they do, they suck.
It’s ok if you want to work by are too scared/anxious. You can make a decision tomorrow, or the next day. You don’t have to decide tonight.
I’m in Indiana too. Originally I planned to continue working, at least for the time being, but I was one of only a couple from my store who was staying so they closed. I could have worked at another store but decided to just stay home instead. Now is the time to just relax into what’s happening and know you can’t control it so you have to just keep yourself well - mentally and physically.

Same boat. If my store closes, I think I'm gonna just lay low for a while. If not, I'm still gonna go in.
I appreciate people who are being calm about people who still decide to work. This sub has kind of made me feel like a piece of shit just because I made a decision I felt was right for me.

As someone who I feel is going through the same thing as you I want to help simplify this issue for you. I myself have to to pay bills but do you need to work; If so then work if you do not have to work then don’t. Fuckkk who “they” decide is essential or not is it essential for YOU to work or not?

Don't be torn. You're not letting anyone down. If they try to play that narrative, they're being manipulative and they don't deserve you. Your loyalty is commendable, but your health is more important, and you shouldn't feel guilty for putting your health first.
