So did you take the 30 days? Why or why not?(self.starbucksbaristas)

I did and to be honest I don’t feel guilty about it one bit. This pandemic is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Not to mention my state has tested only 400 people so I know our numbers are wildly inaccurate. We also have the worlds shittiest hospitals in my opinion. So god forbid I get this virus and spread it to my family. Our hospitals wouldn’t help. Sorry not trying to be too negative but I’ve had a lot of health problems while living in this area the past 15 years and our 2 hospitals are the worst of the worst when it comes to good health outcomes.
Also, I live with someone who is on immunosuppressive drugs and with someone who is a prison correctional officer. It would be terrible if I gave it to either of them.

Took the 30 days. It's purely a moral decision. We all have an obligation to socially distance if able to limit the spread of the virus, and that only works if we all do it. I took it and urged every partner I know to take the 30 days.

I took the 30 days because as a diabetic I’m on the list of higher-risk individuals. Also no guilt because I believe the company will be fine and I also believe that anything we can do to help mitigate spread of this disease will help.

Because people refused to listen about no walk ups in the drive through. They were getting increasingly entitled and even a little hostile, and I feel like that’d just end with me or one of my coworkers possibly getting hurt.

i took the 30 because i live with my diabetic grandmother and serving starbucks customers is not worth the risk of getting her sick.
sillaf275 points3y ago
I did not take it. $3 more an hour sounded too good to pass up. Also this way if I get sick at a later time I can opt in to cat pay at that time
anonymouslatte5 points3y ago
I was given the 14 days (my store hasn’t closed yet so idk about 30 days)
I have 2 auto immune diseases, asthma, I live with my grandma, and my younger brother who’s 11 has asthma too. Not risking my life and my family’s for people who want their coffee. My manager knew about my situation and offered it to me before anyone else

Cat pay is extended to 30 days automatically now
anonymouslatte4 points3y ago
Even if your store doesn’t close? Thanks a lot

I took the 30 days! My manager actually wanted me to take it, I’m 6 months pregnant and so far pregnant women are high risk. I am going stir crazy and want to go back but my husband said no way. So i deep cleaned my house and basically nap... yep that’s the life... and i wait for my husband to get home from work.. I wish he could get time off but the navy doesn’t really allow that. Lolz
amazing_redhead2 points3y ago
Yes because I have a high chance of getting it and spreading it. I have people in my home who cant stay from work and who have been in contact with covid positive people
kaliking91 points3y ago
i didnt. my options were take the 30 and get paid 13.50 for 15 hours a week or work 20 and get 16.50. when i’m not at work i’m at home with people who are very low risk. for me, the benefits outweigh my hesitations

It took a while for me to decide not to take the 30 days.
I have really bad asthma, my mom is immune suppressed and also has really bad asthma. I however decided that I needed to go into work for not only my mental health but for those that don't have the choice to stay home. My dad works in the Hospital and if anyone was gonna bring it home it would be him. Definitely a long ethical debate.
Sadly, I hear more and more people that just wanna get out of the house or work from home and its really sad because were pretty busy. I didn't know about the 3$ when I decided. The tips really help but it just shows people that they shouldn't be out. Im sorry Karen but you can live without your frap. (I live in a state that is on a stay at home order)

I took it, my dad is immunocompromised and it’s not worth me passing something onto him and not worth going without seeing my dad IMO. Also the whole corona thing had my anxiety and OCD at its tipping point so I feel like I took my cat pay at a good time as well.

I took it because Starbucks should be closed right now. I’m not risking getting myself sick or my parents. And my store was busier than ever! Ridiculous how busy it was and how rude people are right now. And I was paranoid about getting sick since there was so many people coming in the DT. Everyone should take the thirty days. $3 more an hour is PITIFUL!!! Starbucks should be ashamed. Should’ve offered time and a half at the very least.

The donation people were no longer coming to pick up food, otherwise I'm sure that's what would have happened
sublevel0091 points3y ago
My store shut down today. I closed last night and we dumped 68 gallons of milk...and countless pastries. That was after we took what we wanted of course. RIP store 11728. see ya on 4/20!
cortvicious3 points3y ago
We donated everything from my store

I took the 30 bc my mom is diabetic & it’s not worth it to me to risk exposing her. I felt really guilty at first, but my manager reassured me everything was fine.!
lordyuhloo1 points3y ago
I didnt, and now that we're allegedly getting an extra 3$ an hour for hazard pay if we work, I'm gonna keep going until I cant. I have a pretty strong immune system and honestly, if i play my cards right i might come out of this slightly better financially than i was before.
I feel like there isnt just one right move for every person. I'm fine with people working, I'm fine with people not working 🤷♀️ it also helps that my area isnt quite so bad yet.

I didn’t because I live alone and have a strong immune system. The only places I go to are work and home. I’d rather give the 30 days to partners who really need it because they are older, have immune-compromised household members or family members, or have health issues themselves. That way I can provide coverage for them and for the store to keep it running. Plus gotta get that rent money lmao with the extra $3 an hour.
Hope everyone is staying safe out there 💚

Cat pay is not a choice between you or someone else. Everyone is entitled to the 30 days. Starbucks will keep on running if you take the cat pay. If you're whole store takes it they'll just shut down the store for 30 days.
