Its more expensive to advertise the position, interview, hire and train a new barista than to pay the thirty days. Besides they'd be risking retaliation lawsuits if they did. Corporate may suck but theyll do whatever saves them money.

They don't want to fire us. They want to return to selling coffee and the service that we partners give. Be well!

Retaliation policies would protect us. Please don’t come at me asking me whether or not I think this company actually cares because compared to other companies and their treatment of their retail employees during this pandemic I would say yes, they care more than other companies

True. I remember that bit from training actually. Thank you for the reminder.

It would be a PR nightmare

Pretty sure that would be unlawful termination. That would be grounds to sue the employer.

Scary question, I've been trying not to think about it

I have this same fear. This is the best job I've had. It pulled me out of a dark time in my life, and these last few days have had me agonizing over what will happen after the 30 days. 😔

They won't fire you but they could cut your hours in the future.

I mean honestly nothing really unless there’s a fine print to the 30 days thing. Or could just be a way to mark partners and give them reason to quit. I’ve seen many partners worried where they’re in locations where it’s only a few of them there. Soo who knows.

Honestly this is why we should try to unionize. None of us should be afraid of losing our jobs over this.
