I’m actually glad I found this post because there are a few things that bother me when I’m at window as well.
For example:
-Pulling and saying “hello?”, barely giving me enough time to push that damn speaker button.
-Not responding when I say, “Hi welcome to Starbucks, how are you today?” It’s just rude.
-After I’ve repeated your entire order with your specific modifications saying, “The Caramel Macchiato is iced right?” Yes ma’am, that’s why I said “grande ICED caramel macchiato..”
-Having an attitude when I tell you cannot hear you’re order because you’re ordering from the passenger seat and speaking like I’m in the car with you. Speak up or have your driver order.
-Pausing while saying your order. Eg. C: Can I get a Venti Iced Coffee... Me: Okay C: With hazelnut and vanilla Me: Okay C: No classic syrup Me: Okay C: Light ice Me: ... C: ... Me: OKAY C: With soy milk Me: Is that all, Sir? C: Yes This really grinds my gears and I honestly don’t even know why.
But anyway, just wanted to expand on your list and give my 2 cents on what bothers me as well.

I hate when I have to tease it out of them...like:
Customer: I'll have a grande latte.
Me: ok, a grande latte. What else can I get you?
C: can you make it soy?
M: sure! What else?
C: and add three stevia?
M: mmhmm. Anything else for you today?
C: and an extra shot?
M: ok, a grande soy latte, with three stevia, and an extra shot. Is that all for you?
C: and can you make it extra hot?
M: yes. -___-
C: ....
M: ....
M: anything else today?
C: no, that's all.
Just say it all at once ffs!!!

I don’t get why people do this! Especially if you have a very specific drink. Like come on, dude.

Oh, I thought it'd be helpful for people if I order slowly so they have time to find the buttons on the register and not have to remember a dozen other modifications.

In some cases it is. In some cases it’s,
“I’d like a Matcha Green Tea Frappuccino with soy milk, extra caramel, no whip and double blended with a banana.”
And so long as the order is said at a normal pace, we will understand you. And if we aren’t sure, we’ll simply ask you to repeat or confirm your order. But for you to pause after every modification...it literally drives us insane. Mostly because it’s not just one person with a headset on, meaning 9/10 times we heard what exactly you wanted.
So just say your complete order and if you’re concerned that we might get something wrong, double check your order on the screen or ask us to repeat it.
Just remember that we aren’t kindergarteners. We’re you’re local baristas who understand words and logic.

Okay. I do try to order in regular speed if I'm getting a basic drink and only slow it down if I get something that's super modded/I can see the cashier is obviously struggling with my order and I suspect that they're new. And the headset is a good point; the only two Starbucks I go to on regular are cafe-only and I've never seen anyone wear headsets there so it didn't even cross my mind. :)

I appreciate you being interested enough to ask. It’s been really rough on us lately, as sales are shooting through the roof(or are the lowest they’ve ever been) and patience is running dry. Thanks for caring, even a little bit. It matters bunches. We’re obviously here to serve, but what makes the job rewarding is knowing we’re doing a good job.

re people ordering at the window: two days ago i had a woman doing orders for other people and bringing it to them, and at the window she realized she needed more things food wise, she asked if we had the chicken sausage and bacon sandwich, then proceeded to say “i’ll go back around and order it, i just wanted to make sure you had it before i did, you don’t have to add it on now, i’ll go back to the box and order” SO POLITELY AND WITH A SMILE AND EVERYTHING like zero attitude about it. we did have it, she did go back around to order, i already had it cooked for her when she pulled up and ended up not charging her for it because her kindness made up for an awful day that i was having

Everything everyone is saying about the drive thru is happening to where I work too. It drives me crazy. Or for those that like to park far from the drive thru window so I have to try to stretch to give them their payment or drink. There are a just so many things that I can't stand what customers do
