lol this is why when people pay it forward, my usual line is “hi, your total would have been x.xx but the person in front of you paid for you! wasn’t that generous of them?” while fiddling with the tip jar

Yeah I usually just say the person in front of you paid for you and said to have a nice day! I don’t like to keep it going because it can get confusing especially if people add on stuff, mobiles, and then if you change out for breaks. I prefer to get it over quick.

as someone who pays it forward frequently, i politely disagree. when i pay for the person behind me, i just wanna make their day a little better/easier, i dont care if it goes for 2 cars, 6 cars, 20 cars or none. i think its perfectly fine to just accept the kindness and move on.

Also the whole "pay it forward" only works when someone doesnt pay. Otherwise people are still just paying... just not for their order. Someone has to accept the "free" food/drink...
But I agree ... it's a nice gesture, but it can get confusing with orders!!
