1. lady asks at the speaker if she can buy a bottle of sf vanilla syrup, and since we have literally 4 bottles left in the back we say no because we don’t have any to spare. she FLIPS out and says every other Starbucks always lets her do this and we can always order more and this is outrageous. and I’m just like yep yes mhm totally understand now please go away

2. girl gives me her app to scan and I tell her how much she still owes. she tells me AFTER that she wanted to use the stars, which I can’t do at this point, and so I tell her and politely suggest next time she let the cashier know she wants to use stars before scanning her phone and she INSISTS that I should know to just do it myself without asking. cool now we’re mind readers

3. we close at 5 now, and there are signs everywhere that say this, and after 4 we would periodically go down the line of cars at the drive thru to let them know we wouldn’t be taking any orders after 5, so they could wait and take their chances or leave. and people would get to the speaker after 5 and insist that we still had to make them their drinks because they had waited for 30 minutes and it wasn’t fair.

Today we had a woman get out of her car at 5:55 and knock on our drive through window and start yelling because she was being “ignored” at the speaker (we open at 6)

On #2 I always just void the payment and rescan to avoid the headache 🤕

No not if they wanted to use stars because they didn’t have enough on their card. If there is still a total u can void out the tender

This is why I’ve always scanned first and then I ask if they wanna use stars and then I can proceed... cuts down on the “I WANTED TO USE MY STARS” lol

I'm not a closer, so I've never experienced the third one, but I've definitely experienced the first two scenarios at my store very recently!! Scenario 2 happens way too often, all year round.

Problem 2 would be solved if they had a check box on the app to say if they wanted to use stars or not.

I always ask because some people hoard their stars and other people always want to use them.

I know I should get in the habit of asking first but it just adds an extra step and when there’s a huge line and my sm is (for god knows what reason) getting pressed about DT times I’m more focused on moving quickly yknow

On the little bottom left corner of the screen after they already paid it's the super small print that says "sbx card xxxxxxxx897 " you click that and press void, easiest way
