Free coffee for healthcare workers promo- seems like a bad idea.(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Haikuemo94
Maybe I’m over thinking it, but it kind of seems like a promotion that’s offering free coffee to people that are very likely to be exposed to the virus and encouraging them to come is kind of a horrible and inconsiderate idea? Like hey you’re probably carrying the virus but come to our store and get our workers sick for a value of $2<.
The people who come up with these promotions aren’t the ones in the window, that’s all I’m saying.
What do you guys think?

I agree. Awesome idea on paper....but not when you stop and think about it. A better idea, in my opinion, would be to QUIETLY use a % of profit to buy and donate supplies to local agencies. I say quietly because, let’s not get everyone to come to the stores and potentially spread the virus more. It’s Starbucks, they will sell product.

Agreed. In theory nice gesture. In reality it's just gonna expose people to the virus.

They’re also trying to get anything, BUT the tall coffee. No, venti fraps are not included. Is that a serious question?

Customer: *orders 7 handcrafted beverages* Me: Anything else? C: yeah, and I work in healthcare. M: coolbeans, you can get a free tall hot or iced brewed for free! C: um, my whole order is for healthcare workers. M: soooo, frappuccinos are not considered brewed. Just regular coffee, and just tall size. C: i read on facebook that we get free coffee. M: yes ma'am. Free tall brewed coffee. C: well that's not what your advertisement said. M: oh, ok, well show me at the window and we will figure this out.
Me...with a giant smile...ma'am, that's the headline share tag on a private blog, not associated with or promoted by Starbucks. Also if you click the link and read it you will see it clarifies just hot or iced brewed coffee. Would you like to change your order?

I do worry about that. I understand they are being monitored consistently before during and after their shifts if they have a fever or cough or anything. They wear wristbands stating when they got inspected I guess you could call it. Its still worrying but that helps ease my mind a little.

I’m in west LA, I haven’t seen any kind of wristband like this yet.

That kinda blows man. North Texas is doing it. Bright orange ones.

I work at a Krobucks and we are participating in it too. I already worry about being there. This just makes it worse now. 😟

I think it's great, hand a basic beverage as a token of thanks to people putting their lives on the line for all of us. They're people of science, they know what steps they need to take to prevent spreading the virus to the general population. And if you're not a healthcare worker, first responder or other essential worker, stay the f' home and make your own f'ing coffee. Self-indulgent a-holes who can't go a month without their triple shot soy mochachino are more likely to be ignorantly asymptomatically spreading the virus than the people facing it 12 hours a day with no end in sight.
