Not everyone can afford to do nothing. Our society failed us. it’s ran on capitalism. I’m staying home and my money is slowly draining it fucking sux. After the months catastrophe pay is done best believe I’m gonna work. The best we can do is stay clean and social distance to the best we can. The crazy people ordering Starbucks are the ones funding me making ends meet. I lost my second job bc of covid so this is all I got. Anyone who absolutely needs coffee to function can prepare large amount of coffee at home for the days to come. I personally made an entire cold brew toddy that will last me a week at a time. Took me less than two hrs to prepare. Starbucks isn’t essential for healthcare workers it’s essential for me to get paid and to not fall further into poverty. No hostility, this is just another side of the equation that people don’t tend to look at.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I’m one of the variables in the equation you’re describing. I support myself, and if things aren’t better once the 30 days are up, I will still have to return to work.

It’s frustrating to see people continually disregard the health and well-being of service workers. Customers already took us for granted before all of this. Now, they can’t even stay home for the sake of public health. It’s maddening.

Starbucks closing will not be a magic fix. But if they closed, they would be conveying a respect for social responsibility.

A lot of partners are coming for their free food and drink mark outs as well. They all complained about Starbucks being non essential, but then decided to drive thru for their food and drinks. People are selfish and do what is best for themselves!

Mmmm not sure I agree with that. If I was offered free food and I needed it then I would take it. It’s not selfish. What’s selfish is to assume people’s situations.

Wait what? Why can’t she make coffee at home if she’s concerned about waits? We give free coffee to frontline workers but not denying anyone their sense of normalcy in these times. It’s about everyone not one specific group. We didn’t close our stores to anyone not frontline, we offer them free stuff in appreciation.

I don’t know how tight your floor is, however we’ve been bringing out Uber and mobile orders to the patio to meet who call ahead

I would suggest to your mother to place a mobile order and call to pick it up outside
