That should be the end of the story. Managers do not have the authority to deny you cat pay, and if they try to guilt trip you into working call the DM or PCC to complain.

Just say you want to take it, don’t be nervous or guilty about it. Even my manager took it.

Honestly you have to put on your “IDC” cap 🧢 and just go ahead and ask him you want cap pay. If you don’t feel safe to work and can get paid, then why not? The other baristas need to relax because I’m sure that behavior is based off of either fear, anger, etc. Off of the entire situation. Their attitude does nothing to help anyone. Do what’s best for you and those around you that you live with! As for what to say to your manager just calmly approach him and ask to speak with him privately. Then let him know you don’t feel safe right now with what’s happening with COVID and want to take CAT pay. He’ll they say ok and let you get it. If he doesn’t, update this threat because I’m sure people have advice for that. I believe you would have to call Partner Services.
