People need to stay the fuck home (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by sillaf27
I chose to keep working at a drive through location and I'm shocked at the absurd number of people coming through. I was making drinks from when I clocked in till clock out (7.5 hours). I'm glad I still have the opportunity to work but I want to go back to my cafe location and I can't do that until this plague goes away and the plague won't go away until people stay home and stop spreading this disease. I want to slap these fools

I'm genuinely not trying to be rude or hurtful when I say this: has it occurred to you that you are part of the problem by choosing to work? And I say choice because you would be paid to stay home.

I think part of the problem i have found is that it’s everyone and their brother who are coming through. It’s not just the die hards. It every person who’s like... I’ve always wanted to try Starbucks and since they are the only ones open mows the time! People are getting cabin fever and anything they can do they are.

I’m still working because I want to. I can limit my exposure and possible transmission by it only being the drive thru. But you best believe if I get sick I will have my ass at home and not be going anywhere!

Not to sound rude, but do you know peoples’ situation? It seems to me that you were so easy to judge somebody for a choice that they made. Some people need this money. It may be their only income or their way to make ends meet. Starbucks is not my only job. I need that income to survive. You can bet I will supplement my income as much as I can. Not everybody could be as privileged as those who choose to stay at home. Maybe try thinking about other people and how their situation is different than yours. This person made the choice to go to work. You are as much of a problem by being so quick to judge somebody for a choice that they made that is keeping the company that employs you running. In a perfect world, everybody would be able to stay at home. Yes, we are not helping the problem, but for some of us, it’s literally not a choice. What happens after the 30 days of cat pay?

Nono, you've mistaken my genuine words for sarcasm or bitchyness. I am not judging OP in any shape or form. Nor am I asking you or them to lose money. It's a choice because you'd be paid the same, and after 30 days I would have to go back too. This is my only job. Luckily for us it's extended thru may.

its sort of a catch 22 for you isnt it? You need the money, which is why you work. You bitch that people need to stay home. Thing is, if they stay home, there is no need for you to work.

I've told my friends that it sucks for all. You either lose your job, or you have to work and increase your chances of catching this virus.

Who is enabling all these people to come to your drive thru for 7.5 hours straight during a pandemic? That would be Starbucks, which you are helping keep open..

We wanted to keep working. My whole store. Then we were like. Wow we are the problem. We also didn’t have a choice but it dawned on us after.
