Getting markout while on leave?(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by cozyboy249
Im in my 2nd week of cat leave and I’ve been texting my manager just to keep in touch. She reminded me that I can get my drink and food markouts even though I’m not working and wants me to come through DT and visit. I’d love to, plus I really miss my daily iced latte lol. But I can’t help but feel weird or bad about coming in to get my free stuff when I decided to stay away from the place for my health. I know the company can afford it but idk how my friends at work would feel. Plus I shouldn’t even be leaving the house right?

I'm almost out of coffee at home and was debating going to pick up my markout. I just don't want to. I don't want to burden those who are working, and I've been in isolation for 2 weeks anyway, why risk anything. I can live without.

The point of taking time off / taking time away from work is to keep yourself and others safe. I understand missing your work friends and missing freebies but stay at home. Maybe hit it up *once* when you go to the grocery store, pharmacy, something (if at all, I mean then you're just risking exposure by going multiple places), after doing hand hygiene if you have hand sanitizer.
Really though, just stay home.

I had thoughts along the same lines: that I would only visit when I was out. Yet, I still haven’t gone 9 days into my 30. It seems to me that Starbucks wants to show they are “supporting their community” and are an essential service by more people coming in for products. If customers and partners on leave are coming in when they all should be staying home then it shows that Starbucks should stay open...
I, personally, believe we should close the stores completely. Coffee can be made at home or the local coffee shops that actually NEED the support can benefit from more business. Assuming they are still open themselves.
