How have tips been through this whole thing?
Cocoa_Beanz 18 points 3y ago
At my store they've been sparse (because it's been slow) but usually quite good. I've had a fair amount of $5+ tips from regulars and strangers alike. It's nice that people recognize what we're dealing with through all this.

I took the pay but before I took it I found that it seemed most people who ordered 5 or so Frappuccinos and had $20+ orders wouldn’t tip anything while I had people ordering one or two things and tipping a $5 or a $10

really strange. Either nothing at all, or straight up bills (Canada's lowest bills are fives but honestly I see tens and 20s getting tipped more). So people are either frugal or insanely generous aha

The people who never tipped still arent tipping and the ones who did, even occasionally, are going ham (and maybe working more well paying essential jobs)

Same for us when I was still working.

My store typically has tips roughly $0.70 per week, this week was relatively good with $1.35.

Majority of the customers have been aggressive though, but the nice ones have been extra grateful.

My store is so high volume we normally make $1.50-$2 in tips a week... I couldn’t imagine working and getting $0.75 a week in tips!
Heyitsdaisy11 2 points 3y ago
We pretty high volume, he just don’t have a great customer tipping rate; which is sad because we have one the of the highest customer connection scores in our district.

Not to mention that the store I work at when I’m in school is lower volume but the tip rate is higher, it’s like $1.15 give or take!

Wow that is pretty crazy!

We are getting <5 an hour because most baristas took the 30 days so we are being staffed with shift managers and store managers who can’t get tips (Massachusetts)
weirdpodcastaunt 3 points 3y ago
Sigh. I miss tips.😂

And my coworkers, but.
conn663 2 points 3y ago
you guys get tips... stores in the UK wish they had that
Zyloee 4 points 3y ago
My Tarbucks doesn’t get tips either :(
(Closed as of last week - Now working the Target side of things. )
Gorbon11 2 points 3y ago
We’ve been getting a lot more tips than usual
madebywhit 1 points 3y ago
Our tips were about average today when we got them but we weren’t able to do change since the coin machines are down at the grocery stores. So they were like $2.50/hr.
