Is anyone who originally took the CAT pay going to keep using it until May 3rd or are you going to back on the 20th? My manager called me yesterday asking me what I wanted to do and I’m conflicted so I thought I’d ask y’all.

i won’t be returning until the cat pay ends. my reason for taking it hasn’t changed — i’m high risk and uninsured right now. i’ll keep taking it until they stop offering it.

I took cat pay with the intention of going back after 2 weeks. I texted my SM explaining my anxiety about my asthma and the covid situation and she said if I wasn’t 100% comfortable working, I could return in May.

You're endangering the public, your family, and yourself by working right now, regardless of who you are. For some like doctors and nurses, benefits outweigh the risk. For a barista it does not. Stay home until COVID is under control if they're offering to pay you... they're doing it for self preservation as a business, not becuase they love you.

Some people have bills to pay. The hours that the cat pay is based off of was during one of my weeks of hours being cut and I still have all of my bills. I have to work. Some people don’t have a choice.

Doesn't change the fact that you're endangering the public though... just means you're doing it out of self preservation

All I’m saying is some people don’t have a choice. Endangering or not, I have to pay my bills.

I.e. self preservation

My manager just told us that the cat pay was extended till May 3rd but if anyone wanted to come back to work to text her and let her know (I’m assuming for the people who don’t wanna go stir crazy). I’m continuing the cat pay cus honestly I don’t think it’s safe for me to go back to work, but you shouldn’t feel bad for continuing your cat pay. Your store and district is doing what they need to do in order to run your store.

I’m taking it until May 3rd, if the COVID situation gets better by then - great! I’ll come back to work. But we aren’t in the worst part of it yet apparently and I’d like to feel safe so I’m staying home. Plus I know we all have insurance but regardless going to the ER is expensive and it won’t be worth it to fall into more debt because I felt guilty about not working.
