Why are you not taking the CAT pay if you’re upset that you’re open?
anonymous7497 21 points 3y ago
Because I took a week and a half vacation during the weeks calculated and my average hours are incredibly below livable with cat pay. Bills to pay.

Your vacation wouldn't be factored into the catastrophe pay algorithm.

it was, i was scheduled as no shift for that week and a half and it still counted. vacation or not the hours worked or scheduled are calculated and still averaged out the same way. i don’t have paid time off to use and didn’t use my sick days, so it was like i just didn’t have any shifts.

That's weird. I would reach out to your SM to put in a correction. My district was directed to take ownership over our partners cat pay and make sure it actually lines up with what our partners work. For instance, I had a partner who started in February and only got 20 hours for the first couple weeks, BUT then went on to work/be scheduled almost 40 by the time we closed. I just put in a correction and it was fixed.

Yeah, there’s bills to pay but if you continue to work, you’re providing labor for Starbucks to stay open.

So fuck my bills right? Lol, not an option for me and probably majority of people that pay them.

I’m not saying that, and I understand that it’s not a good reason at all. But it’s what Starbucks is gonna do, continue running as long as possible. It’s how they’re continuing to make money.
