How to tell my SM I'm taking the leave (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Cassiefaithfully
I'm a supervisor, one of only two who agreed to stay and work. Everything was okay, so I didn't take the leave at first. Now, however, seeing the cars come non-stop all day every day, and getting angrier and angrier, I'm very concerned about not only my physical health but my mental health as well. Any advice on how to drop the bad news on my boss without sounding like a terrible employee?

You aren’t a bad employee for taking the leave. Starbucks even stated that people who choose to take leave will not be seen or treated any differently. If you really feel bad, you can tell your SM you’ll finish your shifts for the rest of this week while they figure things out. Explain to them you’re concerned for own safety and they’ll understand.

I was in the same situation and I had two days off before the weekend so so I just told them as soon as my shift was done so that way they could prepare. Just try to be as helpful as possible

You can have a one on one conversation with your SM and let them know that as much as you would love to stay and work the stress is taking a toll on you. I’m sure your SM will understand.

You call them and say "Im taking the catastrophe pay and will not be in store until May 1st"
