I CANT TAKE THE DISRESPECT (RANT) (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by lattenoart
Hiya fellow partners, I’ve been dealing with this issue in my store for months now but I’m constantly disrespected, overlooked, and down right just treated like nothing! I was a former barista at a licensed cafe store prior to working where i am now, I’ve been here for a long while now, after working diligently like a slave and literally learning the ENTIRE STORE and how things operate barista and shift side after 11 months of working there I decided to apply for the shift position because even fellow shifts told me that i should apply, I have the respect from all other barista, am a barista trainer, so why not right! After applying 3 weeks after my interview I was not given the position and someone else who was just hired 2 months prior gotten it over me and that person was clearly not qualified and it’s shown! I worked way to hard and have done so much for the store and constantly get disrespected and overlooked by management! I just needed to rant but what should I do!

have you ever considered it’s your attitude? we have a partner in this exact situation at my store. she’s super capable, a great barista and very knowledgeable, but the entitlement and shitty attitude are what keep her from being promoted.

It’s definitely not that, I’ve even asked that to my fellow partners and it’s not that!

I wasn’t even being snotty lmao. like it’s just that we have that EXACT situation at my current store.

I know what that’s like, though, and it is just annoying as fuck. I was in that exact situation at my last job so I just finally got to the point I did the bare minimum and then went home. It’s not worth the stress.

Yeah I feel that, and that’s was I have been doing , I was literally going above and beyond for the store and before even applying for the position I had two shifts have a talk with me on how I should talk to our store manager to become a shift before I was even interested! So I’m like conflicted on why everyone else sees it except my store manager and my new asm

New ASMs can nuke a promotion, or any opportunity to move up, depending how they feel about you.

Might be due for a transfer to another store to be honest. There’s no sense working someplace that doesn’t treat you with respect. I used to work at a Topgolf and they have various different promotions they can give you even when you’re a low level employee. I worked my ass off and was one of the few employees in my department left that were there when that location first opened. I even asked every single manager there (there’s like 10 managers) and I had the top managers telling me I couldn’t have any way to improve working at the job. They knew I wanted to get that promotion too. They gave that promotion to somebody only working within that past month. Places that treat you like this are not good places to work

At my store my managers just seem to want to promote brand new people over people that have been with the store for a while. Like this new guy was promoted to shift and he couldn't even do a barista's job. Basically when I worked under him I ended up being in charge instead of him. It is like managers are blind sometimes

Yeah most definitely and that’s what I’m doing now tbh!

Ask your SM straight out what is it you need to work on as part of your PDP Partner Development Plan, so that you can move forward with your goals.

I have and haven’t gotten a valid answer yet, I was the only one who had a PDP during the interview process and even asked during. I don’t know what else they could want from me
