thankful to still have a job and thankful for starbucks & my partners(self.starbucksbaristas)

I see a lot of complaining on here which I understand completely (believe me...i get it lol) but I’m really thankful to have some sense of normalcy during all this. I took the cat pay at first and then decided to come back and my mental health has been so much better since. I’m lucky to have an incredible store manager who lets us blast music all day and even lets us wear leggings and has themed days (like sports and superhero) since customers aren’t really seeing us (lol sounds silly but it’s a nice perk). My partners are great and we always have so much fun working. This is a really stressful time for everyone and getting a few hours of socialization is what’s keeping me going honestly. Also I think starbucks is doing what they can for everyone. I’m lucky I don’t have to file for unemployment and I’m especially lucky I work with such a great group of people. I’m saying all this because I see a lot of negativity on here and I think we’re all forgetting how lucky we are. Obviously not everything is peachy, there’s still a pandemic going on, but just wanted to spread some positivity. Stay safe everyone. ❤️

I agree. I asked manager if they need me back yet and they can use me next week. I was missing the customers and making the drinks, and being distracted by something to focus on for a few hours.

How did you go about asking to come back? I want to go to work for my mental health and safety but i’ve been having bad anxiety asking my SM to come back, idk why Ig I just don’t know how to ask.

I’m pretty close to my store manager (everyone who works there is under 30 and he’s much younger than that) so I just texted him, he called me a little later and he asked if I wanted my regular hours back. That was it. Wasn’t weird at all. I’m lucky though I know not everyone has a store manager as understanding and friendly as mine but it’s your right to ask. Don’t be scared. I was nervous too but it turned out fine. Don’t stress yourself out! It’s still your job at the end of the day.

I ended up texting her at 10:30 AM yesterday and still no response, I guess I just don’t get to go back to work because she’s completely ignoring me and has been this entire time I received maybe two text messages from her throughout this entire time since I’ve taking CAT pay , and from my understanding they’re supposed to be contacting us at least two times a week. idk what to do now 🙃

Maybe just send a text asking, hi just checking in. Need anyone to start coming back? I'm available.

I feel the same way! I love my coworkers and the routine of going to work has kept me in a really good place during all of this.

I agree, as much as we can all find something sometimes a lot of things to complain about with the company, I am very thankful they have been supporting us to make the choice. I am especially grateful for my manager and assistant manager as they have made it so accessible for everyone to make the right choice for themselves. Thanks for this post! ❤️
