that’s a joke!! i just wanted to see if any baristas felt the same as me, SO—i feel like any time i work with one of my shifts they either take DTO or CS, and at this point it’s getting HELLA frustrating. i’ll be on window for 5 days straight, or bar (COLD AT THAT!) for like 4 days straight and they’re still standing there happy as can be taking orders. do i stand up for myself and ask to be moved around, or do i suck it up? if anyone has dealt w this let me know i’m not crazy please... or maybe i am🤣

Not a SS but typically, whoever is running the shift is supposed to be on CS or DTO in order to be able to see all the key points of the store and also float to cover a planted position if necessary.

i would typically agree w that, but since the COVID thing i’ve had several shifts from other stores acting WAY different. taking bar when baristas look stressed, taking the window when we all get tired of it, etc. maybe i’m being dramatic, bc this whole “no one staying home” when it’s a quarantine has me all the way stressed. thanks for your input🤍

Yeah, I didn’t take that into consideration. Before my store closed we continued to have a similar routine but we weren’t nearly as busy as what some of y’all have been dealing with.

our store has skyrocketed in sales growth over the past two weeks. it’s insane! i honestly just wish i knew what ran thru shift’s heads when they make certain decisions. i love all of mine dearly but they don’t like to give SCHEDULED breaks, and just generally like to dote around while we all flounder.

Ugh. That sucks. Here’s wishing you a reprieve and better shift coverage!

Our SM instigated use of a 1 hour time for window. When it goes off, someone switches with window. Other positions are shuffled to support doing this.
It means the shifts have to count more tills, but since cafe is closed they swap them with cafe tills until they have time to count them.

My store has SSVs on either Front or DTO because playcallers have to be able to flex to coach or see the floor. If you get tired of a position, ask to be moved.

Probably not the best approach but when I’m running the floor I usually put two partners that I know will work well together on DTO/ DTW. I usually work on anything I need to do and when I am done I work on CS and Bar when ever I am needed on bar. I personally try to stay as far away from the window as I can because my brother would be greatly affected if I bring this thing home with me. I only approach the window to get money or un assign partner registers.
