Kevin, our CEO, lives in Gig Harbor, Washington.
population approx (2018) 10,422.

headline: dated april 13, 2020.

“This is serious': Gig Harbor mom details ongoing 27-day battle with COVID-19”

washinton state’s timeline is ahead of most states by 2-4 weeks for peak cases & use of hospital resources.

& they are seeing a rise in cases again:

“In some areas, he says social distancing has proven successful. But he points to new outbreaks in smaller, more rural counties like Adams and Benton as to why continuing it past next week is the right move. Inslee says that the daily positive case rate had been holding steady at 6 to 7% but over the last few days, has jumped up to 12% and higher” (Gov. Inslee, referring to his extension of “stay home stay healthy” orders beyond April 27th. )

When asked how long it could be extended past its April 27 date, Inslee told KOMO News it would be “unwise” to ballpark a timeline.

“We’ve got to make decisions based on science, data and the health of our people," he said.

it appears that we (Sbux) ARE flipping a lightswitch, not tuning a dial, as Kevin said, by opening MOST stores in ALL states on May 5th.

where is the scientific, critical analysis?

why are we not following wise Gov. Inslee’s lead?

One would think being headquartered in Seattle, WA would put our finger more closely on the pulse.

The store-opening timelines seem completely OFF the pulse.

I'm in texas and in no way do I think we should open our cafes! And I'm not even in houston. I'm right outside of Dallas/ Fort worth. Literally dallas is less than an hour from my store. And they're reporting more cases every single day. I'm considering taking my sick leave or something if the cafes open. I'm not ready for that.
