So this bitch “Karen” comes everyday and gets a grande ice coffee with 4 classic and extra almond milk in a venti cup and complains every single time we make it. First there’s not enough almond milk, or there’s no sugar in it when there’s definitely the 4 classic she asked for. Today we remade her drink three whole times and complained ab something different every time even though it was made the exact same as the last 2. She absolutely bullies us at window and telling us we must be new and don’t know how to make coffee. Finally she takes one of the many remakes and then drives back around through the drive thru and demands a refund. She literally will not leave until she gets something for free whether or not she gets a refund or an extra coffee. This bitch is the scum of the earth and I hope we don’t serve her anymore. Thanks for listening
EliHyung203 points3y ago
As a shift I would just refuse service if its constant, at least in my area we don’t play that shit
royalsara3 [OP]91 points3y ago
I’m speaking to the manager hoping to get her banned for being so rude to us for no reason.
EliHyung51 points3y ago
Yea talking down to partners suggesting they might be new is a good reason to be banned
royalsara3 [OP]61 points3y ago
Our shift told her off by saying she’s been with Starbucks for 5 years and knows how to make an ice coffee but she still insisted we didn’t know how to do our job...
EliHyung17 points3y ago
I’m sorry shes doing that to you guys, eventually she will get sick of coming to your store and go to another hopefully
justdoinmybesttt12 points3y ago
Someone should ask her if she knows so much about making coffee, why doesn't she just make it at home?
Alybear9110 points3y ago
Did you guys file an incident report?? That’s the first step in getting the “other customers” banned.
suenologia19 points3y ago
i would emphasize the amount of time and product she ‘s wasting and talk about how you’ve tried to “make the moment right”. this type of behavior isn’t okay and should not be something anyone has to deal with *especially* during this time
Saoirse_Says9 points3y ago
Lol at my store a customer wouldn't even get banned after assaulting staff
Digitalwitness2313 points3y ago
There was a regular at my store that would bully every one of us, even made one of my partners cry a couple times. Absolutely nothing was ever done about it. It was one of the countless reminders that Starbucks truly does not care at all about its baristas. The culture of the company allows this stuff to happen, no one gives a shit. So glad to be out of there for good.
Momisnotmyname7 points3y ago
No, that is a mgmt problem not a Sbux problem. Your store leadership needs to grow a spine and stand up for you baristas, it is literally part of the job description. Incident reports need to be filed each incodent to create paper trails.
Saoirse_Says3 points3y ago
Hear fuckin' hear. Sorry to hear that y'all had to deal with that though.
pantyescobar1 points3y ago
same lol there’s this insanely racist old man who frequents our store and my manager (who is also a poc) KNOWS about the stuff he’s said to my partners and he’s still not banned
pleasesurpriseme28 points3y ago
Honestly I’d just make her iced coffee but put half a short cup of almond milk on the side. I would be that petty bitch that waits for her to be at the window and take down the classic bottle and pump four into a venti cup, add the iced coffee on top, add ice, and leave a lil room for the almond milk. Here you go. It isn’t right? You saw us make exactly what you ask for and you add your milk so you know it’s the right amount. Oh, it isn’t right? Bummer let me take it back. Here’s your refund. I guess you’re leaving without coffee.
royalsara3 [OP]19 points3y ago
Yeah I should do that, so she literally can’t complain
pleasesurpriseme15 points3y ago
Exactly. Like I hate that it might come to it, but if she literally never leaves happy why wastes several drinks worth of product? “I’m sorry, we made the drink exactly as you’re describing and it still doesn’t seem to be what you want, I’m not sure what else we can do. Here’s a refund, I hope you have a good day.” end scene.
Because what more should you be expected to do? Write incident reports and ban her for her extra, mean ass behavior.
JCaligirl4204 points3y ago
We have a regular that gets a misto with 1 raw sugar, coconut milk, it has to be half mind you, and a little bit of cinnamon on top. We started having to pour the milk into the pitcher with her at the window because she said we weren’t using coconut milk. More than once we’ve had to remake her drink 3+ times. She’s ridiculous. She will take a drink and say this isn’t right make it again, takes a drink and this goes on until she gets fed up or it’s “right”!
syntheticstrawbrry23 points3y ago
My store has a similar lady and her husband who mobile order 4 trenta iced coffees. It’s always the same order, but every time they come by they always say “mobile for ________. Can you make them not so milky?” And then some says they ask for extra cream, obviously AFTER we make them :/ Today they came buy and said that our iced coffee tasted burnt so we had to remake it and let them go with 2 iced coffees for the price of one. At first, I was of course pissed when they’d come in because we’d remake it so much that we’d waste a whole pitcher or so of iced coffee, but at this point I’ve seen other customers just get pissed off because they’re causing a huge dilemma over iced coffee.
I mean if you’re going to be this specific and ridiculous with your order, you might as well make your own iced coffee at home.
hergreatdepression1 points3y ago
That sounds so annoying! Iced coffees are the easiest thing to do! Honestly I’d just fill a short cup up all the way if there is four trentas and put it on the carrier with a little note saying it’s the cream on the side. I’ve done this with so many customers who have said “xtra xtra whip cream still in their drink, but don’t want us to cut them short of the drink, and they want a dome lid... “I think they are trying to just get us to pour their Frappuccino in two cups, which my manager is cracking down on “because we don’t charge them and it’s lost sales and there is a split cup fee” and we usually put the rest in a tall cup when customers order a few shots into a frap it sometimes expands or we poured to much milk with the shots but the customer prefers it smoother like that anyway! Sometimes I wonder if they think that Starbucks is like when you go to McDonald’s and you don’t get to chat to the workers... so the only way of talking to them is to throw a fit? Especially if they do it on a regular basis!
sholbyy15 points3y ago
At a store I used to work at there was a bitch named Julia who would do shit like this and one day my manager came up out of the backroom after someone had gone back to tell her that Julia was throwing a fit and my manager straight up said "I'm getting real tired of your shit, Julia. Don't come back here anymore."
I about died.
pinkshadedgirafe11 points3y ago
You need to stop allowing it. Because you do every day she will continue. Once you stop allowing that attitude she will give up. We had someone like that.
ATXNerd015 points3y ago
Kill that bitch with kindness. Like, practice over the top friendliness. Learn her name, compliment her hair, act like she's your very favorite customer. "Hi Karen! Great to see you! Would you like your regular? Awesome! We will make it at the window for you we can make sure it's right. Pull on through to the window. Thank you!" Introduce her to the green beans, "Charlie, have you met Karen yet? She's one of our awesome regulars. She likes an ice coffee with classic and almond milk." It works better when they come into the cafe, but I bet you could use the stupid drive-thru camera for the game too.
It's worked for me with some cantankerous AF assholes. I'm an ex-barista now, but that's a transferable skill without a doubt.
growinginnyc1 points3y ago
Love that counter-intuitive approach. It's actually an effective method that worked quite well for me (ex-barista myself too). I found that such customers project their own baggage on to other people who don't hold them accountable- people in the service industry are their convenient targets. But that doesn't mean you should be treated as such. If this strategy doesn't work for this Trenta Bitch, I would solicit advice or help from the SM. And if the SM comes indifferent or unhelpful, I would consider transferring to another store. Not worth your time sticking around in a place where you're not respected. Life is too short for bullshit.
tinynewton5 points3y ago
this title ended me
turnedtechGodhead0 points3y ago
same 😂
golden_pinky3 points3y ago
What is wrong with rude people like this?
gooby_chan2 points3y ago
I laughed for 10 minutes at the title
royalsara3 [OP]1 points3y ago
Thank you it just called out to me😂
c_reckless352 points3y ago
In that situation, I would literally do like 6 to 8 classics and Xtra almondmilk
ilikevangogh2 points3y ago
“Trenta sized bitch” you are a legend
Koalastars0092 points3y ago
Sounds like a customer I had who kept saying a mocha cookie crumble Frappuccino wasn’t sweet enough for her son. Had to remake it a few times.. I honesty think it’s a power trip. Kind of like this is the only place they get to be in control or have to always be in control of everything.
closingshiftbarista2 points3y ago
For real, I think some people act like that to show off for their kids. I’ve had similar issues where kids will seem fine with their drinks but their parents will still come up and pitch a fit and then make a show about asking their kid if the second or third one is “better” 🙄
All they’re doing is teaching their kids that behaving like that is okay
Bambajon2 points3y ago
Ban the bitch
scarcelypolite2 points3y ago
we have these 2 women who get 2 venti mocha fraps everytime they come and they irritate me so much. they always fucking complain so next time they come jn they can get 2 extra fraps for free. ive been trying to catch them in their scam but partners wont confront them and ive tried to tell them no and im happy to remake their originals until they are satisfied but they never say whats wrong and my manager just lets them slide :/ they’re not mean all the time like OP’s customer but they are def entitled
star_pants1 points3y ago
When people are this bad and it's constant I tell them "Unfortunately it looks like we cannot please you, maybe another location can help you better. Here is your money back, best of luck. Good bye."
cristianap361 points3y ago
Man I like my AM than my SM. SM is a shill person but when this happens SM sides with the customers, but my AM wants to ban a customer for being rude but SM says no
