So what happens to those of us who did not take cat pay? (self.starbucksbaristas)

My big question is, now that everyone is coming back to work and cafes are apparently going to be opened, when and if someone inevitably gets sick (whether it’s covid or just regular flu symptoms) are we going to be quarantining at home unpaid? There doesn’t seem to be anything in place for partners who may need to take time off following the end of cat pay. Seems u fair that there was a paid 2 weeks (initially) if you were showing symptoms. And considering absolutely nothing has gotten better in regards to the virus I am.... confusion. What about us?

I heard from my ASM that the people who did not use cat pay will get two weeks paid sick leave if they get covid-19. However, I don’t know what will happen for someone who did use cat pay.

Interesting. I talked a bit to my SM today and she seems to be waiting on a lot of answers from our DM because even she isn’t clear on a lot of stuff. Our ASM took cat pay so our SM has been doing everything on her own with minimal staff through all of this and I feel really bad how often sbux is changing things, and updating but not fully communicating what’s happening.

If they don’t offer paid leave there’s a super high chance that your State’s Unemployment will pay you for the 2 weeks you are forced to quarantine (for coronavirus of course, flu you’re outta luck)

I say super high chance because most states allow it but I’m sure a few might try to deny it.

Tbh I’d prefer them to not pay me because unemployment for those 2 weeks alone would be equivalent to 5 weeks worth of pay.

I live In Canada so our unemployment works a bit different, and usually isn’t near what you normally get payed unfortunately. Our unemployment is also super back logged right now and it’s taking weeks for applications even get started. I get really good full time hours as an SSV so the max unemployment I could receive would be significantly less then what I normally make. It’s just disappointing to watch sbux do so much for partners for a period of time and for the rest of us who continued to work no longer being given security of being payed if we have to quarantine.
