Headspace is an absolute joke. Starbucks has done nothing about any of the regulars who sexually harass me no matter who I talk to.

PCC? Your DM? Your RD?
I'm not trying to doubt you, just something like that isn't a problem with "Starbucks;" it's the individuals in the positions.
A number of my baristas have complained about regulars that are let's say, a little too nice. SM took action against it, as soon as the customer crossed the line, SM stepped right up and dealt with the customer.
Sure Headspace isn't a cure for anything, but it's a nice benefit. Besides as OP mentioned we now get a whopping *20* free therapy sessions every year.

They all just say the same “I’m sure they didn’t mean it like that.” “He was probably just trying to be nice” “He’s never said anything like that to me before” I’m sure not all Starbucks stores are like that, maybe the people around mine are just particularly shitty to service workers.
I’ve been seeing the same psychologist and psychiatrist for years now. Even with silver insurance it is expensive for me. After paying for 2 sessions a month, food, rent, and insurance I am left with practically nothing. 20 free sessions sound great, but I absolutely do not trust that they will maintain confidentiality when Starbucks is paying them. I also seriously doubt their efficacy if Starbucks is giving them to us for free. I’m afraid whatever I tell them will be passed on to corporate. I just feel rather hopeless.

Patient confidentiality is the LAW. if they break it, you can press charges.
ReEliseYT-2 points3y ago
Unless they are licensed clinical counselors, and have some state board certification, they are under no legal obligation to patient confidentiality. My goal in life is to be a clinical counselor, and until I see some proof otherwise I’m not trusting them. Especially since the job is often the subject I talk about most during my appointments with my psychologist. I’m not trying to be a bitch about this, I just don’t trust talking to anyone about my problems unless they have some sort of credentials. It’s not that I think Starbucks is uniquely evil, I just think all corporations are not to be trusted, and will always prioritize their profits and stock holders over their employees.

Starbucks is paying for my college education. I never thought a bachelor's degree was in the cards for me EVER because I don't come from money and was scared of ruining my life with loans. I can't even tell you what this opportunity has done for my well being. My coworkers keep complaining, but I'm just grateful. And yeah, I get that our society is messed up and doesn't cater to those at the bottom of the ladder, but Starbucks is giving me a shot.

Love it. Thanks for sharing that. Seriously
Lilium8162 points3y ago
Yeah I really don't understand all the hate. I love my job
melidew2 points3y ago
Where do you work out of curiosity? I don’t hate my job but I feel like people who LOVE love their job don’t work in places like NYC for ex.
Lilium8163 points3y ago
I've been on PTO for some 5 weeks now. Part of the reason I love Starbucks.
Imnewtoit [OP]2 points3y ago
You are right I don’t work in a huge urban area. I work in Omaha.
melidew1 points3y ago
Yeah i figure my friend who worked in OK loved it there and hated it when she came to NYC.

I’m grateful for what we have but it’s truly the bare minimum of what a major company like Starbucks should be doing. They give us just enough so we’ll feel guilty asking for more, which works apparently.
