How did you guys get to full time hours?(self.starbucksbaristas)

I started in January and it’s my goal this year to reach full time hours. I’m good at my job and my coworkers like me but definitely still make some green bean mistakes every now and again. How did you guys get full time hours and how long did it take to get there?

I’m a manager and still make green bean mistakes 4 years later. A lot of it depends on store needs. Show up on time and do good work and if there is a need you’ll get hours. But if your store is plenty staffed and your SM can’t give you more hours without cutting hours of a partner with more seniority, ask about opportunities to help others stores in your district. It’s a good experience to work in other stores and you get paid mileage.

Understandable, my store doesn’t have the need. Especially right now. Hopefully after this all blows over there will be :)

Honestly, the people at my store that get full time hours are the ones who have open availability. My previous manager set the bar for people to have ridiculous availabilities so they tend to get less hours over those who have open availability

I work a full 40 hours every week now, mostly because I just kept covering and picking up shifts to the point where I was hitting overtime every week. Since overtime and starbucks don't get along, my manager promised to schedule me full time if I promised to step getting overtime😅

It's probably because I have open availability but I *started* with 40 hours a week. Literally the week after my one week of training I was getting my hours cut because I was into overtime.

I have always gotten minimum 35 from the start. I think it’s because we have lots of college students who want to work the closing shift and since our pay is low and we start at 5AM normally, we don’t really have many morning people, and that’s what I applied for. However those with limited availability tend to get limited hours

I have completely open availability so I think it’s just a lack of need at my store

There’s about 6 of us at my store who get 37-39 hours every week. 3 of us are shifts. We’re just the ones that are willing to work the hours I think? Not really sure, didn’t really have to work my way to the hours I was given them when I started.

By full time do you mean 40? It’s almost impossible without picking up shifts or if your store is not staffed properly.
I’ve been with starbucks for almost 8-9 months now and NO partner at my store has been given 40 hours. Baristas sit at 0-20 hours(yes... some partners get 0 hours a week, a majority of us are sitting at 4-12) and shifts are at 24-34.
On the other hand, my friends that work in a store about 10 minutes from me always get overtime because they have people calling out.

Ahahah yikes
I pick up like every single possible shift I can even if it’s at another store so I’m in about the shifts range currently
