Block Scheduling ? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by svdaddict
So my store is starting to do block scheduling. is this something that every store is doing right now ? or is it only certain stores ?

honestly, i think block scheduling is totally stupid. for one, what about the partners that have all been working together during the quarantine? it’s not really the effective if person a has already had contact with person b, but now they’re working at different times. they’re already infected. secondly, if my block leaves at 1:30, and the next block clocks in at 1:30, we’re still having contact because we’re in the store at the same time??? and if someone were to test positive, there’s no telling how long they’ve had it before they started showing symptoms, so realistically anyone working could be infected, even if there was no physical contact.

i guess you have to be thankful that corporate is trying to limit contact, but it feels like too little too late.

It sounds like all stores are doing it. The idea is that if someone gets the virus or has symptoms that the store will only be shutdown for a 1-2 days to be disinfected, and the store can keep operating using the other blocks, while only the impacted partners are quarantined.

It seemed like they were going to phase it out as conditions improved.

What exactly is block scheduling?
StarbuckianDee 2 points 3y ago
Exactly, what is it? I keep hearing about block scheduling but no one really explains it.

The manager puts everyone in “teams” where you only work with the same people each time you work. So you never work with certain coworkers...so that’s gonna suck. I’m worried none of my fav coworkers will work with me. But to answer OP it shouldn’t be permanent. My manager explained were doing this scheduling to limit the interaction we all get with each other, in case one person in a “team” is sick then maybe it wouldn’t spread...

It'll be easier to track who the sick person was in contact with too.

it’s pretty much like you get scheduled into teams an you work specific days and you’re either a morning , mid , or night worker.
for example ; let’s say I’m scheduled Monday ,Tuesday , and Wednesday. I’m scheduled as a closer , and I work with the same people.
I’m stuck with these days , and this shift. An I can’t switch with anyone. I can only call out.

Oh wow that’s something way different than I was expecting. No wonder why I saw my schedule and it’s the same for the next two weeks.
