Hey everyone

I’ve been at the bux for almost a year, and I do really love my team and store a bunch. I love all the benefits we get, but my career is SUPER important to me. I was offered a really good job pertaining to my career, but i’m worried about quitting starbucks for the job. I’m mostly worried what my manager would say to me if I tried to, since he was speaking to me about making me a shift supervisor and I did say I was interested.

Do I take that job that relates reallllly well with my career, or do I stay at starbucks for a while longer and wait for a different opportunity to come along...

Take the job and leave on good terms so you can always come back. Managers would rather hire a former partner than start fresh!

I had this same worry when I was offered a full time job out of college. You should leave the company and give this new role a shot. If you don't, I bet you will wonder what would have happened if you had taken that new job. Leave Starbucks on good terms...that way if you ever need to return for any reason, you can do so easily. Put in a written resignation with a two week notice and help them as much as you can with during your last couple of weeks there.

Wow, your situation sounds like mine lol
I’ve also been working for Starbucks for nearly a year and my SM also offered me a promotion😭
I was offered a government job in the field I studied for (I have a bachelors degree) right before this COVID 19 situation took off, but my employment was put on hold due to the current situation. I’m also dreading the day I have to tell my manager I’m quitting and starting a new job.

I’m a pre-med student in college right now, and I was offered a job at an OBGYN clinic, where the doctor told me she would love to have me and on top of that, told me she would write me a great letter of recommendation for medical school applications. It basically would get me clinical hours, and expose me to a different field of medicine that I haven’t explored yet. Such a hard decision for me ):

Maybe you can go on a leave of absence to see if things work out? My job lets people do that.

Jump at the career!!

Worked in a role at one point where we did hiring and looking over resumes, that career experience will get you so much further than Starbucks on a resume will. Especially if you're learning new, marketable skills.
