Am I the only one who thinks that’s not really a fireable offense?
WholesomeOnliPls41 points3y ago
Might not want to have your full name and store number on there. Also your SM's name. Just thought I'd give some friendly advice in case this gets around and you get in more trouble

I'm not concerned about them being fired, I'm concerned about them being stalked. That's internet 101.

I’ve been fired lmao it’s meaningless now

Thank you for your service. You made America a better place.
WholesomeOnliPls3 points3y ago
You're exposing your private information on the internet...with your full name AND location you worked at, someone could easily stalk you and harass you at best, or at worst you get sued by your manager or corporate. You could have posted the paragraph in the middle while editing out or redacting the personal information.
bompwa1 points3y ago
Except for that's private Starbucks property and your putting on the internet could violate a document disclosure agreement which you agreed to when being hired by Starbucks. And now some person trying to be the baristas' hero posts it on Facebook and gets a group of their friends inticed, or worse finds a gullible enough journalist who published it. Now Starbucks is facing bad press due to your lack of following through on policy that you agreeded to and NOW you're facing charges.
Edit: TL:DR - you could've promised not to show those documents communications when you signed up and now Starbucks mad.

I mean, at least you have a good story. But yeah, this could really only go one way.
Rings-of-Saturn25 points3y ago
Well first of all, through god all things are possible, so jot that down.
Ojishota23 points3y ago
Why would you do that and not expect to get fired lmao Jesus
mandaddie17 points3y ago
Joking is the only way to get through our jobs, I always made it a way to make customer connections. It was a harmless joke, I was planning on greeting the customer and dropping a comment with it but I never even saw her. I ran out to restock when the situation unfolded and then it got explained to me. She FREAKED out and over reacted to the 9s.

You are my hero! You’re punk as fuck and I love that. Please never stop being so awesome. You are free from this corporate nightmare. I wish you all of the best. My sincerest thanks you absolutely marvelous person!
golden_pinky19 points3y ago
Girl, you might wanna blank out that identifying information.
shawnp629817 points3y ago
I agree with the other comment, it’s all fun and games to vent to each other on here or Facebook groups about Karens but common sense applies that you don’t do something like this and then act shocked when you get fired for it lol.
the1noir12 points3y ago
Oof. “Weird flex” is not really a joke you say to a customer, more to a asshole stranger on the street.
mandaddie2 points3y ago
Side note I didn’t work at a drive thru store. It was a joke a light hearted person could have laughed at. I have reflected & saw how it came across offensive...
criesincoffee9 points3y ago
You’re an absolute legend in my eyes! How immature is everyone else involved that you get separated over a dumb meme lmao
kediquinn8 points3y ago
Most of y'all in the comments sound pretty whipped tbh. Karen was overly sensitive. Could those on both sides have put more effort before acting, yes, to their certain degrees. She apologized and had no intention of offending in the first place. The amount of strangers who pull even worse shit on other complete strangers makes this nothing. At the end of it, Karen got her drink and still have her Mercedes, her actions afterwards was the weirder flex. Bro, that was an overreaction she and the company did to save some face on yet another bullshit standard to make companies look like they care while kicking people in front of the bus. But you should dead censor names, low-key might be considered doxing if this spreads to the wrong people
nobullshitplz3 points3y ago
I pretty much agree with you head on from your first sentence to your last. That was, at worst, an offense to get a warning. The only way a firing seems reasonable for this is if OP would have some type of troubled history and getting involved in tons of complaints in the store. Even then, OP’s surprise tells me there is no such history of that.
Thiscantbelegalcanit8 points3y ago
As a customer, I’d take it as a joke - especially if I wasn’t using my name. Unfortunately, everyone is different and there is bound to be someone who will take immense offence to the lightest of jokes. That being said, it’s better to be safe than sorry by keeping jokes as neutral as possible. There are no second chances with Karens.
mierecat4 points3y ago
You brought this on yourself dude. What did you think would happen
nobullshitplz3 points3y ago
I mean this seemed like something that would warrant a warning but not a firing, unless you had previous offenses. Judging by the surprise, it sounds like you don’t have previous offenses
Bleys0871 points3y ago
I’m bummed I can’t read what this post is about. Can anyone help? Maybe re-post without the personal info I’m reading was up there?
meh801 points3y ago
You’re honesty surprised you got fired over this...? I mean yeah it’s weird af to put your name as “silver Mercedes” but you could have easily not have done what you did and go about your day. If it was a more easy going person, they probably would have laughed it off. But you don’t know who’s on the other end of the joke that you want to write on someones cup. You could have easily showed other partners the cup and said “weird flex but okay” but you chose to write it so the customer could see. I’m not surprised you got fired at all, lol.

Not the best usage of English grammar. Manager should be deported to Europe.
