So my cafe store finally opened on Monday for mobile orders, right? We got maybe like 4 people come in and everything was slow but fine, we were getting a lot done. Some are coming expecting to be able to just order at the door and we accommodate and hand out a flyer informing them of the mobile app so they can order that way next time. Personally I was fine taking the orders at the door until one guy shows up and I take his order. He said he didn’t want a stopper in his hot beverage and I apologized and told him we had to cover the beverage and he interrupted me, getting louder and actually beginning to scream at me that he didn’t want the stopper. I smiled and asked him to give me a moment. My SM was just around the corner out of sight and I informed them of the situation. The look on their face was priceless. It was an “I’m already done with this and we only just opened today” look. SM was also met with slightly less shrill arguing. Moving on, SM came up with a solution for the stopper by having the bar barista put a sticker on the mouth of the lid, like the ones we put on there for Uber Eats orders. Still it was shocking to me because I’ve been saying if you’re THAT scared of what’s going on around the world then you should stay home. At the very least he should have been reasonable and asked if there was another option to the stoppers instead of screaming at us. After this happened I seriously wanted to ask SM if we could enforce mobile orders only, but that’ll never happen. I doubt it would be a solution to people behaving this way anyway.
