How do you make a Starbucks-like Frappuccino (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by AccountOtherAccount
Dear Reddit,

I made a Frap yesterday with the following ingredients but it didn't taste as 'textured' as the one made at Starbucks:
Glass of chocolate milk
Whipped cream
Chocolate chip
Chocolate liquid topping

The taste was smooth, plain, and almost like there was no reason to add all the toppings (cream, chip, liquid topping) to my drink. It definitely wasn't thick or textured like the one made at Starbucks. I'm not sure what I'm missing. Please advise.

There’s something called frappuccino base that goes in them too. It’s a thick syrup that’s just for texture so without it you won’t be able to recreate it at home. It’s basically sugar and xanthan gum. They also only have milk to the bottom black line of the cup and then a lot of ice so you probably put too much milk.

Is this Frap base sold at local supermarkets?

No because Starbucks makes it directly for their stores. I’m sure there’s a recipe somewhere online that tries to mimic it though

Just make a milkshake

You need condensed milk! Not too much maybe 2-3 table spoons that will substitute for the Frappuccino base! It’s still not 100% but still a better texture than just ice and milk☺️
