Promised Promotion that never happens. (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by heatherhalo
I was wondering if anyone else has had thier store manager say they would promote them then never do? I've been with the company for 4 years and my last 2 managers have done this. I'm done. Instead of promoting me or even promoting with in, my manager accepted a transfer shift that has only be with the company for 6 months. I'm just tired of not getting any where with this company. I got a barista trainer position a few months ago but have yet to train anyone. Green beans keep getting assigned to different trainers.

Have you considered transferring for a promotion? At my store there was a girl who wanted to become a shift but we didn’t need one at the time so she transferred to another store as a new shift.

My manger has done that with slot of people in our store. My store is less than a year old and my Sm promised a partner who transferred to the store that she would become a trainer since she would be the main barista in the store with experience. This never happened. She also promised other baristas a promotion before she went on maternity leave which also never happened.

I also feel similar to you because I feel like I should get a promotion because I basically do all of the shifts chores in my store except for money stuff like till count. It’s gotten to the point that if I don’t get promoted I might quit.

Promising a position and not delivering is bad management. I have seen SMs work with people and say you need to improve this thing to be ready, and then when that's done add something else to be ready to promote over and over again.

I wish there were more transparency in the promotion process. There doesn't seem to be any objective standard of what they want.
