Anyone else breaking out under mask(self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by jatar2889
Lately after wearing the masks, I’ve been breaking out a lot more than usual on my mouth, cheeks and nose area. Does this happen to anyone else and do y’all have any tips to prevent it?

The store provided masks have formaldehyde residue. All fabric has it. If you can wash them, they will be better for your face. Or make your own and wash after every shift !

I didn’t know that thanks!

Wash your face twice a day with someone super gentle, like Cetaphil or CeraVe. Use a WATER based moisturizer. Stay far away from oil based anything right now. But the most important part would be to wash your face before you go to work and when you get home.
Edit: something super gentle lmao

Yeah I do and I even use cerave but it doesn’t seem to help :(

There’s a guy on YouTube that specializes in skin care. His channel name is Hyram and his videos helped me perfect my skincare routine. I wish I could help you more but I don’t know you’re skin type lmao good luck!

Yes! And I don’t even have acne-prone skin!
Never got acne when I was a teen, got a little adult acne here and there but I normally have dry skin.
I have been sweating like crazy under these masks + having my Starbucks hat sitting on my forehead all day at work.

I got the biggest mf zit on my nose where the mask hits ew

Are you using your own mask or the store provided ones? It could be the soap used on the fabric that is breaking you out.

I’m using the store provided :(

That really sucks. It's possible that there's some chemicals of some sort that the fabric has been treated with. Is it possible for you to get your own mask? I got 5 for $25 from reformation.com that are plain black tie ons. I wash them with my sensitive skin detergent in a mesh bag and lay flat to dry. You should also check out /r/skincareaddiction for more specific help. Good luck!
