Starbucks Baristas: The daily grind

Cafe Store is reopening tomorrow.... (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by ArdinGarden
I’m laying in bed, first shift in 8 hours.... excited to see my coworkers and earn money for rent but much more scared...

Throughout the weekend as we were cleaning the cafe, multiple customers who WERE NOT WEARING MASKS came to jiggle the doors (which were thankfully locked). They clearly got mad each time we explained how we were mobile order only so I can’t even imagine how angry they’d get if we refused to serve them because of their lack of facial covering. We’re putting a few tables in front of our doors to prevent people from coming in, but the tables also prop the doors open so we can’t close them.... they are also low enough that anyone could easily vault over one. Customer attitude was already extremely hostile before the shutdown, I’m worried about how people will treat us.... I joke to my sister that I’m prepared for the verbal abuse but Not Really Joking at the same time.

Also, now that it’s past May 3rd Starbucks is giving cat paying for people who’ve been exposed right (please lmk if I’m wrong) ?? How can they tout that partner health is their top priority when they do this shit??? Our cafe store reopening is just inviting people to think that things are better when that is far from the truth. I really hope at some point there will be another push for Starbucks to close like there was in March.

If you got this far, thanks for reading! I’m hoping for the best and a good night sleep. Wish me luck!

Our cafe store opened a few days back. It's been tough. Supposed to be mobile order only but easily 90 percent of orders are walk ins. Hardly any customers wearing masks. About half are paying in cash. Constantly having to tell them they can't walk up to bar. Get behind the taped section, don't walk around the cones, don't push the table blocking your path out of the way. Handoff is super stressful. I have very little hope for the future after three shifts. On the plus side co workers have been fantastic.

Ugh, good luck.
Yesterday, we had a customer get in (DT operations only rn) because no one locked the door after a partner left. Totally our fault, I know..we were just slammed and no one thought to get the door. We promptly kicked her out and had her get in line, but not two seconds after locking the door, a guy tried to get in.
The only reason I'm semi-comfortable with working is because cafe is closed.

If we’re required to wear protection then they sure as hell should too
