Question about CAT pay/benefits (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by [deleted]
Hi all,

My SM recently told us that CAT pay had been extended to May 31st but only specifically in regards to people working who are getting less hours than normal, and the CAT pay would make up for the difference.

My question is whether anyone knows if this applies to people on a leave of absence as well. I have an autoimmune condition and am trying to take as much time as possible before I return to the store even with the precautions in place. Just wondering if anyone knows whether the CAT pay still applies to me or if it's only for people who are working some hours but not their normal amount.

Thanks!

People will get CaT pay till end of May if said person falls into any of these categories:

1. You’ve been diagnosed with corona
2. You’ve been exposed to corona and need to isolate
3. You are high risk (over the age of 60 or 65). Not sure if that applies to immunize-compromised people, I would call PRSC on that one.
4. You have kids and don’t have child care and need to stay at home to take care of your kids.
5. If you work, but your hours are cut due to store hours. (Example: your average hours were 30 a week, but you are only scheduled 10. You would get paid for the other 20 via cat pay for the difference to bring you to your average).

You won’t get cat pay if you decided not to work and take an LOA. But call PRSC to see if you are deemed as high risk. If you are, you would get cat pay till end of May.

CAT pay should be available to everyone. It was extended to all baristas because hours are lessened due to shorter hours of operations. If you are using sick leave for your time of absence, I believe you will recieve the additional CAT pay. You may be able to find a definite answer on the partner hub!

Thanks, I'm poking around on the partner hub but there's a lot of info. The only thing is I didn't select sick leave for my leave of absence, because I'm not actually sick, at least no more sick than I was when I was able to work. I'm just at high risk of getting sick and not wanting to work until I 100% have to financially.

I'd definetly talk to your manager. People at risk should have options to get CAT pay based on the supervision meetings we've had in our region. There definetly should be some options for you because of your situation

That would definitely be the best way to get info, I just don't want to come off as entitled or taking advantage of the situation, since my SM has been very understanding about the CAT pay and about letting me take a LOA. I should find out this friday when my check gets (or doesn't get) direct deposited haha. Just seeing if anyone else had more infos on the latest CAT pay update, because my store got lots of details on the first 2 updates but less on this one.
