How long can you guys last on bar? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by wowshai
I have been working bar for pretty much my entire shifts this past week (around 35ish hours) and I feel like my body is dying. Did the month off do me that dirty? D:

I also just worked 7 hours on bar and need to know if I’m just being a baby.

What is y’all’s (preferred) time on bar ?

5 hours non stop 6 with a ten 7 if I get a half 8 if I’m allowed to complain for the last hour

Lmaoo I feel the complaining 😂

I am exactly the same. After about 6 hours I burn out and start getting bitchy. After 7 I ask for redeployment to Custy Support so I can go do dishes and make back ups.

I used to be on bar for my entire 8hr shifts when I first got hired and by my last hour I would be aching (bad back) now as an SSV I constantly rotate partners and ask everyone how they are doing and if they want to be switched out. Some people can handle it though and would prefer to be on dt bar their entire shift. Depends on the person I guess. Also depends on what kind of day it is... on a weekend where your entire shift is endless peak bar makes me so physically tired by the time I get home. We also have a really spacious store layout so just the walk back and forth to cold bar and our nitro makes it so I’m constantly walking and moving, also being tall I have to bend so much to get milk out of the fridges!

There is technically a policy that we change positions every hour. I know hilarious. Nobody follows it

I can do 2-4 hours during peak and all day on a chill day. As an SSV I try to rotate people every 1-2 hours.

Two hours. I feel like any position for more than two hours just gets so repetitive and bland. The shift supervisor should be rotating partners every two hours anyway. When I was a shift I always moved people around, even if a person was new to a certain position. How else will they learn? It lets the shift go by better for all the baristas and everyone has a chance to be in a different position. Baristas that only like to do one thing at work leads to sooo many deployment issues down the line.

I've been requesting to work on bar, so its anywhere from 6-7 hours depending on my shift. Our store has been really busy and I get way too stressed and irritated doing dtr & dto while trying to get my food & hand out drinks. I'll end up snapping at someone if I'm on there too long.

Honestly I don’t understand how I was once able to do 8 hours on bar without dying. These day I can last a couple hours maybe. I’m speedy but it just wrecks my body so bad 😔😔

I've done entire shifts on bar full 8hrs

Throw me on bar and forget about me. I absolutely love bar.

I only do bar. So either 5 and a half hours with one 10 minute break, or full 8 hour shift with two 10’s and a lunch.
