Ya shifts are usually supposed to be a in a position that allows them to flex to others and be available for other things. If there’s multiple shifts on the floor someone’s one is in bar, but usually not one that is the play caller at the time.

You know, I never really noticed that but now that it's been pointed out, yeah! Our shifts are almost never on bar. The most common place to see them is CS/warming/ and sometimes drive. Basically, just support for whatever we need.

In my district, shifts are coached not to place themselves on primary bar, unless they are in a pitch and it’s literally the best/only option.
They need to have the ability to flex themselves wherever they are needed, without having to also shift other partners around. Which typically means CS, ovens or support.
