“Journey” “ lead with courage” “love” “heart” “journey” “connection” “inspire” “journey” “Starbucks family”
Anyone else feel like we’re in a cult and Rossanne is our leader? No? Just me?
desairologist36 points3y ago
Roz is very culty. The specific verbiage and soft condescending tone. It’s very brainwashy

I feel like these “Covid meetings” are sbux programming us
jas0nd3an5 points3y ago
I feel asleep in mine today.

Same

“we are all united by the green apron” is the cultiest statement i’ve heard in a while
Emroseyyy8820 points3y ago
The audio we all had to listen to during those meetings was absolutely cringeworthy and made me feel like I was being brainwashed...we honestly skipped through all the “meditation” crap because it was so weird to all of us.
nofoam_cappuccino [OP]20 points3y ago
RIGHT? The part where we had to focus on the unconditional love we have for someone in our life and then take that energy and focus that love on a customer??? What the heck. I’m actually one of those people that is into meditation and mindfulness and that honestly struck me as brainwashing adjacent. I left that meeting feeling very uncomfortable.
Emroseyyy889 points3y ago
I’m all for being compassionate, empathetic, understanding whatever BUT the way everything was worded just left me wondering what in the hell I sat through. I started with the company 14 years ago, left for a while then came back. So based on my past experience I feel Corporate got some whack jobs who worked their way up to a position where they could introduce these weird tactics to everyone. Part of me misses the old school vibes. I’m still coming to terms with coming back as a partner seeing the changes and then getting blindsided with this Covid stuff all within a matter of 3 weeks. It’s beyond overwhelming.
jas0nd3an3 points3y ago
Customer thing took it way too far.
neon-lakes19 points3y ago
Its an attempt at framing our anger/anxiety as matter of mental health and not of working conditions so we don't unionize.
suenologia7 points3y ago
its exactly this – also why they emphasize lyra and headspace. your anxiety and mental breakdowns in the backroom isn’t the **Third Place**, *heavens* no, the problem is **you**.
don’t get me wrong i’m all for mental health support, I just don’t trust starbucks to have our health in mind after what the past year has been.

holy shit
gone_gay9 points3y ago
My SM probably got annoyed with me bc I called out a lot of my grievances with them
hopelovepeace337 points3y ago
Well that was the entire point of that meeting for us to let our SM know how we felt about things.
neon-lakes6 points3y ago
Also this isnt new. The stickers that say "we're hiring" also say "Be part of something bigger."
"we're all in this together" (except the folks who wrote this are working from home while the rest of us struggle with customers touching our hands)
AmonOdin5 points3y ago
That meditation bit wasn't meditation, it was a poor stereotype of what people think meditation is.
grossest_doggo4 points3y ago
Okay I was thinking the same thing the whole time during that meeting and I was getting real uncomfortable? Glad I’m not the only one.
hopelovepeace333 points3y ago
LMAO during that meeting one of my partners fell asleep listening to that. My SM woke him up & he said “can we listen to that again” and that he started thinking about jellyfish 😂🤣😂🤣
nofoam_cappuccino [OP]4 points3y ago
Bahaha whattttt. That sounds like some hypnosis shit
hopelovepeace333 points3y ago
lol well her voice was very calming and relaxing & we also had out meeting at night so we all did not want to be there & we were sleepy so listening to her put a couple of people into a little slumber 😂🤣
ReEliseYT2 points3y ago
100% agree. I think the whole ‘be a part of something bigger’ and that creepy Roz brainwashing nonsense is culty as fuck. I’m hear for the trans benefits, and that’s it. Don’t get me wrong I genuinely care a lot, shit I’ll even say love, most of my coworkers. We’re in the shit together. That being said, I’m here until I get surgery, then I am absolutely moving on.
