I started working at Starbucks in the beginning of February. I thought things would be better by now, but two of my shifts constantly are micromanaging me and one of them talks to me like I’m absolute scum. Some days she’s nice, but most days she always has a fucking attitude with me, and she makes me feel like I’m less than. I’m a hard worker, and I do my best. But I will ask a simple question, and she will answer me like I’m stupid and roll her eyes. For example, today I asked her if she put an item in the oven, and she gave me that look and was like “yeah... it’s in...” and rolled her eyes. But on a different day, if I didn’t communicate with her about things like that, she will get on to me for not letting her know about something. I never talk back, and I always shake it off. I’m tired of it, and pls don’t say to tell my manager because the higher ups are super cliquey. This is the shit that makes me dread going into work in the morning.

You should never feel this way about your peers or environment. We all have bad days and it’s been stressful but it’s her responsibility to make sure everyone is comfortable and that the store is running smoothly... your shift is the last person who should be giving you pushback or making you uncomfortable, I’m sorry :( And if you feel that you can’t bring it up with your SM, please call your DM and let them know the situation. Maybe you can look into transferring to another store nearby. For now, if possible, you could always try to pick up shifts at different stores to spend less time around her

Thank you, I’ll probably hit up my DM. Also, follow-up question: how long do I have to be employed at Starbucks to be able to transfer?

I’m pretty sure it’s six months. And don’t feel discouraged, your DM will help you, your baristas will help you, most of us don’t bite. I hope things work out for you :) It’s a great company with great benefits. You just gotta own it.

Omg this sounds like the person who trained me she was such a bitch sorry but she was ,,, when I’d ask her do I put mocha on top? Yes.,, didn’t we just learn this? I’m like damn,, or when I would be on window and she would ask me what are you waiting for ? “ a butter crossiant” if you don’t hear the oven than take the lead and do it yourself don’t just stand their staring at the screen” I was like wtf damn yeah I couldnt tolerate her . I ended up transferring cause of her . Everyone was afraid of her and never complained
rebeccyuh [OP]3 points3y ago
THATS EXACTLY WHAT SHE DOES TO ME!! she will speak in such a condescending tone and be like “...what are you waiting on” “if nobody’s on oven, it’s your job to put it in...” like goddamn I’m sorry I’m not aware if you are putting shit in or not when you were putting shit in literally 5 minutes ago

Hey! Hope you’re doing alright! It’s crazy how much I resonate to your issue. I started back in August of last year, and my first two shifts were absolutely unhelpful and unfriendly when I first started out. I would ask questions and they would respond with the most half ass answers. I ended up having to talk to my store manager about it, and she was so helpful at making sure they were helping me. I ended up adjusting and learning better in one week after that, than a whole two months. I’m sorry this is happening to you, it can make working so miserable😕I think if you’re manager is someone approachable, I would go for that option. Let me know if you need anything else! 😁
