I don’t know how to respond to “I’m soooo glad you’re open!” without sounding sarcastic.
Gingersnap5322 88 points 3y ago
Well we are glad you’re back!

The nicer you are the more likely it is to get tips. I’ve gotten 20s in my jar because of the niceness

Also crying. Started crying about something at work one time, and a lady in the DT gave $10.
Gorbon11 9 points 3y ago
I got put on weekend morning shifts because the opening shift liked my enthusiasm so much :) being kind really pays off!
jinxiescat 17 points 3y ago
Always safe to say “Glad to be back!” Or something of the likeness.
But then again I guess that could sound sarcastic if you say it wrong.
official_koda_ 4 points 3y ago
Yeah it’s better for me to not say anything. I couldn’t say that without it sounding sarcastic lol
SteampoweredClock 13 points 3y ago
It makes me so mad

I came back last week from cat pay and I just kept smiling as a response when customers said that and it took me a solid 2 hours to figure out that they can’t see me smile cause of the mask 💀

We need sales. No sales, no hours, and the Government isn’t gonna help us. Really sorry it is super stressful right now. Be well, stay safe, try not to sweat the stuff you can’t control.
MiS_Schuey 28 points 3y ago
Ya agreed, my SM got told that if we didn't do $1000 per day on average, we would close again, and this time no cat pay): just getting placed at different stores
caashmoney 12 points 3y ago
Dang where is your store that $1000 is goal? We’re getting $3000+ days right now so I will happily start sending some custies your way ☺️
verytiredbarista 11 points 3y ago
Damn, at my store we averaged $3000 on a normal day before covid. Last week (our first week open again) we averaged around $300 a day
andersonm499 9 points 3y ago
Our store is averaging $7000 / day! It’s insane right now we are making more right now than we did before all of this
MiS_Schuey 2 points 3y ago
Haha we are 1 of 2 Cafe stores in a small town in Southern California. All neighboring cities have drive thru stores so we really only get the super local community coming in. We usually get most of our sales from students at the nearby college, so we sometimes get quite busy, but the college is online rn so we are only getting locals coming through. And yes, please send them our way! We've been hitting that goal consistently but days are still sloooow
crzyshiba 2 points 3y ago
Omg same I’m a cafe are we don’t even do $1000 we were shocked we did $2000 on Monday
implicates_ [OP] 3 points 3y ago
ya true
applepie1113 11 points 3y ago
“Thank you soooo much for being here”
splattershotted 10 points 3y ago
lol i just lie through my teeth and say "were all glad to be back!" when that happens
Wonderful_Nightmare 7 points 3y ago
Yeah, like what are people thinking right now? Shouldn't you be staying at home safe and responsibly? Starbucks isn't essential to your livelihood. Like don't get me wrong, it feels good to be back at work and hang out with my amazing crew again but we're literally risking our own health and safety to be here. We don't have the luxury of working from home or being well enough off to not work
millennialcandy 1 points 3y ago
cornerstone of the community but if you mess up the drink you'll be treated like trash (:
