The system for callouts is to contact the store and let them know what's up.
Starbucks doesn't make it a goal to "guilt" you about anything.
I think frequently people are unable to differentiate a problem that exists because of the way Starbucks operates and the way day to day operations are handled at your specific location.
Being down one person crashes the shift because more often than not we're staffed for almost the bare minimum.
I love my job with Starbucks. Is it stressful? Yeah sure. Do I have my qualms? Duh. I have had the best coworkers and regulars because of this job. Starbucks is very human in the way it treats its employees in comparison to other similar jobs (in my experience). I've been cussed out by my manager in front of other customers at a different job. I've also been told that I'd never get anywhere in life if I didn't pick up my work ethic at other jobs.
I'm sorry you're sick, but if you are legitimately ill then it's *not* your problem to stress about the store and everyone else. Sure it's good you care about your fellow partners, but it's okay to be a little selfish sometimes and only care for yourself.
