Starbucks Baristas: The daily grind

I overheard that some of my coworkers attended a “f**ck social distancing party” and I am not at all comfortable working with them. What can I do? (self.starbucksbaristas)

Title says most of it. I got back from Cat leave on the 4th because I live with two people who have severe asthma I am so uncomfortable with going to work if these are the people I have to work in close quarters with. They can do as they wish, but I do not feel safe working under these conditions. Does anyone have any advice? Has anyone gone through anything similar? Do I have any options? I’m hesitant to go straight to my manager.

I don’t know about your store, but at our store, we have to go thru a checklist to ensure that we are “safe” to work after we take our temps before each shift. Maybe you could suggest to your ASM/SM that you know of a partner who is not abiding by those guidelines and may be a risk.

You can try to take a leave of absence if you’re not comfortable working right now

Do you happen to know of any resources where I could read up on Starbucks’ policy on that? I really appreciate your response.

Yeah a lot of my coworkers are being completely unsafe at work, one of them is taking of their mask WHILE ON BAR because “it’s uncomfortable” and no other partners are doing anything about it. It’s really annoying to see the lack of care

the only person who constantly has their mask on in my store is whoever is on window. i mean we obviously know we're not supposed to take them off, but i don't think any of us care at all. yikes.

Express your concern about that to the manager. Maybe phrase it like, “this is bad for the reputation of the company, we wear our masks to protect ourselves physically as well as the face of the company”. If they don’t care about anyone’s safety, maybe they’ll at least care about covering the stores ass from a lawsuit🤷‍♀️

im a closer - my coworkers think once we close they dont need to wear the mask anymore :/ like....we are still human beings and can get each other sick whether we're open or not lmao
