I'm afraid to go into my store since I took the cat pay amd the loa (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by heymisssarah
I am a very new green bean, only worled about 3 weeks before taking cat pay and now a loa. I have been avoiding my store for a month or 2 now, but I really want a drink and a coffee cake. Should I be worried my team is gonna judge me or is it me just being anxious?

I hope this doesn’t come off mean,
But who cares?

They want to be petty and judgmental, let them.
It was your choice and they don’t know your reasons. It’s their loss they didn’t want to take a little paid vacation.

But if you’re that worried just do delivery if your store does Ubereats. You won’t get your discounts but then you also wouldn’t have to go out and be worried about the pandemic.

They’re gonna judge you. I’d go to a different location or not do it at all.

Dude what the hell? There's no way.

Unless these people were acting this way to OP before they left would I be concerned. Even if they were that's a much bigger problem.

I got shamed by my co workers for taking CAT pay in the first place even though my moms a nurse and that’s why I took it.

I also got shamed for CAT pay. But I stuck to it and didn’t leave the house at all. I wasn’t popping in for cakes still. Can’t imagine what would’ve happened if I did and frankly wouldn’t blame them

And that's not okay; your partners should not have done so.

I said this in a post elsewhere but not every store operates exactly the same. I am genuinely sorry that this happened to you and I respect your actions to protect yourself and your fellow partners but I frown upon the sweeping generalization that's being made here.

Okay, I’m just saying I would definitely judge them. You either want to be protected from the virus or not, and going to Starbucks for a coffee cake is an action of someone who isn’t concerned, and taking months off of work is the action of someone who very much is. I would judge OP if this was happening at my store.

Getting a drink through drive one day is different than working multiple shifts and being around all those customers and other partners for the whole shift.

I don't think you understand what it means to be a partner.

To me it means I have a job

I call my fellow partners my "Starbucks family" I appreciate every single one of them. Go in, see your work friends, ask how they've been. If they're unkind to you, tell your SM. I'm not joking. That's not what Starbucks is about. They should be nothing but happy to see you.

I myself took LOA about 3 weeks before my store shut down and I went in after I had taken the LOA and everyone came over to the window to say hey to me and ask me how I was.

One trip is quote different from working daily and being exposed to all the customers.

Even if you aren’t working, you still get your mark out. Through this month at least. And you literally cant get it if you don’t go to the store.

Sure if someone comes and talks and hangs out? Shame them all you want.

But one coffee trip- especially if they’ve been self isolating- isn’t going to kill them or undue all the work they’ve been doing to try and stay safe.

Mental health is important too. Don’t be an asshole about it. This is a hard time for everyone.
