Health Insurance from the Bucks? (self.starbucksbaristas)
submitted by Temp14r
My girlfriend and myself both work for Starbucks. Long story summarized. She was working full-time as a receptionist and part time as a barista. Her full-time job just laid her off and her health insurance will go away at the end of May. We've been scrambling to find a solution.

Some people are saying Partner Resources is working with people to help get them insurance. But when she called, the lady helping her said the needed hours for insurance dropped from 520 to 510. And she still needed to complete 250 hours by the end of June to be eligible to apply. But we have multiple SMs who swear that's wrong but have not given us any more information.

So has anyone else heard anything about health insurance requirements being reduced? Did we get lied too? Should we just start looking into government coverage for the time being? Thanks for any information!

Also not 100% positive, but pretty sure the amount of hours required to be eligible did drop from 520 to 510 (which doesn’t feel like a lot to me, but just my opinion...) Also, if you took the CAT pay, those hours will go towards it as well. I would def apply for government insurance though to be on the safe side! I mean you can always opt out of that if you are covered through Starbucks. If you’ve lost your other job, you’ll def be eligible for that! Good luck!

Im not positive AT ALL on this, but try going to mysbuxben.com I've heard that that's a useful source for insurance info.

I’m currently 6 months pregnant, and have diabetes and I’m going back to work today- and to say I’m upset is an understatement. I’ve been on CAT pay the entire time, and they’ve only been paying me 17 hours a week because of how they factored the hours.
Was told you still have to make audit, which is 510 hours. My SM called for me, because she was completely in the dark about whether they were even going to go ahead with the audit. She tried to explain to them how high risk I am, and they basically told her that if I’m physically capable of working, then the only way to keep my insurance is to now try to make up all these hours.
