When partners keep losing the components to the pumps....(i.redd.it)

Yooooo I wish my store would do this... I take them apart and wash them and then shamefully leave them on the drying rack for morning crew to put back together because I just... cannot 🤦🏻♀️

We keep getting partners who just rush through dishes and a lot of them have never been trained properly or just forget how to put pumps back together. We had to nix skinny mocha as an option because someone lost the pump parts FIVE TIMES in the last 6 months. My SM got fed up and had this sign made the other day lol. She jokingly gave me a hard time for disassembling the chai pump (I’ve been doing this off and on for over 14 years) yesterday and told me the decision was made to let SSV’s only handle that at close. I applaud her for having the forethought to do this cause lemme tell you, losing pump parts is a huge pain 😂

People at my store always put them together wrong and I don't get it. They're not that complicated.

Right?! It’s not rocket science!! People never cease to amaze me in any aspect

I’ve found that the trick (for me) is to only wash and dry one pump at a time. If I have a giant load of dishes, I will wash/rinse/sani/dry In cycles. Clear the drying rack, take the stuff out of sanitizer to dry, wash a sink load and put them on the sanitizer, repeat. There will always be one pump in each sink and one drying. That way, when I’m clearing the drying rack, I put together that one pump, with all the correct components, and not mixing up parts.

Fun fact! Pumps are only supposed to be taken apart for cleaning once a week during the clean play. Otherwise just pump water through them and put them in Hobart. This was a change in policy a little over a year ago.

Wow I wish I could find this information somewhere to show them other than “I found this on Reddit”

Great news you can! Daily records book, clean play tabs.

THANK YOOOOU

What? Only SSVs can take apart the pumps at your store? Lmao
Emroseyyy88 [OP]4 points3y ago
Yea our SM determined this lol
centarx4 points3y ago
Why wouldn’t your SM just teach people the correct way?
_hamburglar__1 points3y ago
That would require additional work for said SM.
bootrick7 points3y ago
Or they tried multiple times and people kept losing pieces
centarx4 points3y ago
But that’s their job? What happens when these baristas are borrowed partners or something and they can’t do their job correctly?

I'm definitely no savant and I find the pumps super easy to put together. I could see them losing the O rings but you should have extras
Vader_Boi2 points3y ago
Damn, are most of the partners at that store just that inept?

We had to do something like this in one of my old stores! I had just transferred to it, so I don’t know who did it or why, but someone took apart ALL of our backup pumps COMPLETELY to clean them I guess and they got left in a bin because no one could put them back together. I tried but usually when I was working there either wasn’t time or enough people for someone to step off the floor to try to fix it. Eventually we just ordered new pumps and were very clear about who was and wasn’t allowed to clean them until we had time to teach everyone how to properly clean and put them back together, which I don’t think happened while I was there. That store was a hot mess though.

your daily cleaning on pumps is to pump wash, rinse, and sanitizer through them and sanitize the whole pump. check partner hub!

Oh I am using this for sure!

I spent a literal 30 minutes yesterday trying to reassemble the frap roast pump. The screwy part of the cap came off as I was doing my usual press press press until the water runs clear, turn upside down and press press press so the excess water can get out, etc. Before I could properly put it back on the whole thing just sprang apart and I couldn’t put humpty back together again. I did, however, keep all the parts together.
