I believe there are continued pay options for those who can't come back to work due to health? That may be ly for those exposed to COVID though, I'm not sure. I guess call the partner support number?
localsquids444 7 points 3y ago
I’m honestly thinking about calling a short term disability lawyer. I feel like this has to be some form of discrimination. I’ve been a partner for over a year, and now that they are changing policy, they are telling me I can’t work because of a medical condition. I don’t believe it’s legal for them to do that without disability pay.

But that still doesn’t answer the question of how do I pay my bills in the meantime.
WholesomeOnliPls 3 points 3y ago
Yeah I would definitely get some legal advice if you can, that definitely sounds discriminatory. Sorry I can't be more helpful, I feel for u 😔

My SM said absolutely no cat pay, unless you have COVID. But it might be worth giving a call just to make sure she’s not misinformed.
SbuxSolidarityMvmnt 6 points 3y ago
That's not true. People on the CDC list for at-risk were allowed to continue on catastrophe pay. You probably have to have some sort of proof from your doctor, which you have sounds like. Call PCC and see what they can do for you because you should be able to get paid to stay home.

Ugh I’m in a similar position with my mental health, I come back just to throw up in the bathroom and get a stress fever, I can’t work if I have a fever or I’m getting sick so I have to go home, any medication my doctor puts me on gives me side effects, and the cycle continues.

Cat pay is until June 14th for those who meet certain criteria. I'd strongly suggest going on the partner hub and reading everything in the COVID 19 resource page.

There's a lot but EVERYTHING'S there and some SMs haven't even gotten around to reading it all, plus the fact that it changes daily

Thank you 🙏

Ugh and I got locked out my portal (facepalm) of course i did
ftsktln 1 points 3y ago
Yes definitely look into this. We have a partner who’s a single mom with a young child at home who has gotten extended cat pay.

I have asthma and I contacted Sedgwick and they had a couple of different phone conversations as well as sending me an email with the information needed to be signed by a doctor. I found a way to email the packet and then did a video visit with my doctor and then I picked up the paperwork and went to Kinkos to fax the packet back. 2 days later I was called and approved for the disability for 30 days. My doctor made comments that I would need to be on disability until a mason is no longer needed but I don’t know how I can go back after 30 days and I will try and extend the disability further. I’ve worked here for 10 years and I am not planning on leaving the company over something that is outbid my control due to health reasons.

Thank you, this was really helpful

I’m now being told I can’t apply for medical leave and need to file for unemployment. This doesn’t make any sense
cymbaline420 1 points 3y ago
I have a question please do you have severe asthma? My doctor says I only have mild asthma so I’m not sure if I should even try to get the medical leave but I am scared to go back because when I get sick my doctor says she can’t hear my lungs but my mother thinks my doctor won’t back me up for the leave :( thank you :)
suenologia 4 points 3y ago
i’ve heard it mentioned (meaning idk if its true), that you can currently apply for the CUP fund in relation to COVID
they-were-roomates 6 points 3y ago
From what I understand CUP find is a one time thing (sort of in that if you use it you can’t use it again for another three years) and they’ll give you up to $1000 depending on your situation. It is true that you can apply for it if you were affected by COVID but it’s not gonna be the thing that pays your bills for several months while you’re out of work.
suenologia 3 points 3y ago
ahh i didn’t know about that, thanks for the clarification; sucks that they haven’t come up with a plan for at-risk partners or those of us who have people to worry about at home but also need to keep the lights on
Vosstonmass1 3 points 3y ago
I personally applied for a medical leave and short term disability. I was approved for 30 days and I plan on getting extended if the masks are still needed. I’m lucky that my wife is still getting paid unemployment. I have not received any payments from disability yet but it is still only 66% of your average pay. It’s better than nothing.
localsquids444 1 points 3y ago
Did you have to call the partner hotline at all or did you just call Sedgwick?
Vosstonmass1 2 points 3y ago
I called Sedgwick and did a preliminary kind of consultation and then from that information I gave them they made a decision on whether or not I was eligible. After I was eligible is when they email the paper work and when you have to do all of the legwork to get the paperwork filled out and sent back in. It’s worth noting that you will want to be as expedient as possible so that you can start getting paid as quickly as possible. Also, I expect the same result for you which is just 30 days and then the need to put in for an extension.
localsquids444 1 points 3y ago
Did you need to talk to your store manager at all before applying? My doctor will 100% back me up about my asthma, but my SM, despite sending me home for coughing, has been lackluster on providing options.
cymbaline420 1 points 3y ago
Hello I’m so sorry to ask on a post that’s not mine but do you know if they contact your doctor? I have asthma but I feel like my doctor would not back me up for medical leave :( I was wondering what it took to qualify? I am scared to call Sedgwick and not be eligible:(
Flappadingo 3 points 3y ago
My feeling is they will fire you if you can’t wear a mask.

It’s not right but that’s the way things are headed.

I’d call Sedgwick tomorrow and inquire about short term disability.

And most DEF contact some lawyers to see if they feel you have a case.

Masks will be around until 2021. So if you cannot wear one, at a job that previously DID NOT REQUIRE one, you should be allowed some sort of dispensation.
Flappadingo 2 points 3y ago
talk to me more -

so what happens after june 1? you are in short wrk disability?
Vosstonmass1 1 points 3y ago
Yes, I will have to be approved for a short term disability but I was already approved so I assume it will be an easier process this time. I would think they would take the advice of my doctor who states that I shouldn’t be working until masks are no longer needed. They seem to be only approving for 30 days at a time which is nonsense.
Vosstonmass1 2 points 3y ago
Looks like I was eligible for cat pay this whole time. I’m so disappointed that I had to file for disability and go through a big process when I’m reality all we had to do was contact Partner Services and my manager could have just put in my time for CATPay until the end of May. If you have any kind of asthma, diabetes, blood pressure issues please contact Partner Resources to clarify if you are eligible for continuation of CATPay and then if your manager has any questions they can also contact the same service. It’s a. Easy time and not everyone knows what to do but now I do.
localsquids444 1 points 3y ago
I’m sorry, that is horribly frustrating considering it’s your SM’s job to know what to do and how to help you. Do you happen to have the PS number? I asked my SM for it a couple days ago and she hasn’t gotten back to me
