Social distancing makes no sense for partners. If we are all near each other for 8 hours we’re gonna get it no matter what.

That's the point of the masks. Less than 6' should be okay if everyone is wearing a mask.

When all your equipment is less than 6ft apart, and you have 30 drinks to make, it's impossible to have them 6ft apart

I work at a drive-thru store that has stayed open the whole time, with our lobby closed. A lot of things changed before our lobby closed, like shutting down our condiment bar, more intense hand washing and sanitizing, and trying to keep the POS and DTW planted as much as possible. But we, as I'm sure a lot of stores have, modified when needed.

Our store typically runs a 7 or 8 person play during peak, and because there were only lime 3 stores open while cafe stores were closed, this never changed. We actually got less busy over the last 3 weeks than we were through March and April. While running DT only there were social distancing expectations sent to us, such as moving DTO to a front register, but it just wasn't practical without needing an entire extra person to expedite drinks for DTW, since our DTO typically help a with that.

With slowing down, and having cafe open, we still keep a designated DTO during peak but we navigate planted positions as needed. We barely have walk in customers at the moment, so it works better for us to have a support partner run POS when necessary and ensure proper hand washing and whatnot after each transaction.

When it's slow in the early morning and evening, we have a solo DTW/R, but they usually don't leave that position. But there might be exceptions. Last weekend I opened and ran DTO/W and ran my own bar for a minute, because I could do it and still follow proper sanitary requirements. (This used to be normal for me before covid, so the only added step wash extra hand washing after each handoff.) We've maintained a strict policy with customers though, just to minimize contact and whatnot. They get super mad when we can't take things back in the window.
